Demigod Forging

Demigod Gear is here and you have to craft it! This is very new for some players and like pulling out dusty old text books for other players. The era of crafting feels like long ago for many of us, however, it was a fun era and we are glad to see it comeback.

Demigod Sets

The first two demigod sets are here and this is what we know:

While these stats are available they are no longer given to you in a set that you open from a pack. You have to craft your gear and the closer you get to gold, the closer you are to the stats that are advertised. As shown below, there are 6 color options in your forge. Gold is where you see the best stats, Grey is the worst stat.

Colors

Below you can see the breakdown of each gear and the stats that it provides at each level.

Bastion Gear Berserker Gear

Looking at these gears one seems to be the obvious choice for defense and the other an obvious choice for attack. However, is it? We did some testing which you can see in our Rise of the Demigods Article.

Demigod Specialty Sets

Demigod Specialty Gear is here and the stats are great. Not only do these gears offer Stats to help with your Eco functions and speed but they provide combat stats as well. Teamrealtips is already doing testing with these gears and will have more information for you soon!

In the meantime be sure to check out these gear sets and their stats.

Training Gear

Ultimate training gear has arrived along with construction and research. Here are the key things to note about this gear:

  • Ultimate Training gear provides increased Demigod Combat Stats and adds in Empire Defender Demigod Health
  • This Gear Offers an Upkeep Food Reduction and is the first gear to do so for Demigods
  • The Training Speed Reductions are the same as our previous Demigod Training Gear.

Ultimate Training GearTraining Set

Construction Gear

Demigod Ultimate Construction gear is now here to replace our old Demigod Construction gear. These gear sets have some key differences. Both gear sets are below, however, here are some of the key differences:

  • The Flat Construction Time Reduction is Exponentially bigger in the new set
  • We have new stats not available in construction Gear prior to this site including: RSS Reductions and Construction Time Efficiency
  • Combat Stats have increased and added in Empire Defender Health

Demigod Research Gear

Demigod Ultimate Research gear has arrived. This gear set has some significant differences from our previous Demigod Research Gear which you can see below as well. For the new gear your Helm, Armor, Feet, and Weapon all contain the same stats with your accessories being slightly different.

Key Differences between Sets:

  • Increased Demigod Combat Stats and the addition of Empire Defender Health
  • Increased Time Reductions
  • NEW*** RSS Reductions for Demigod Research

Speed Gear

Demigod Haste Gear is here to hasten your step and slay your enemies faster. With VIP ever increasing and making gear swaps easier will the days of swapping from speed gear to attack gear return? There are some key differences between Demigod Haste Gear and Demigod Swift Gear. Be sure to check them out and compare the stats yourself.

  • Demigod Haste gear has a huge increase in Empire Defender Demigod Attack and Health Stats and has added in Empire Defender Demigod Health
  • Swift Gear provided speed for Level 1 Demigod Troops that was faster, however, Haste Gear provides speed stats for all levels of Demigod troops, which we did not have prior.

Haste GearGame of War Swift Gear

Demigod Gathering Gear

Important things to note about this gear:

  • Only level 6 gear will give you a shield, regardless of whether or not you use prospectors gems
  • Hero does not have to be on tile in order for the collection rate to be sped up
  • Some have tested the most efficient ways to use this gear and the shields try out different setups and remember you have multiple heroes!!
  • Thank you to Tania/la comtesse for the information she provided!Game of War Gear
Demigod Ravager Luck Gear

Game of War has brought us Luck gear for all those mystery chests. Players have been talking about the fact that we all seem to be unlucky when it comes to chests. Now we can increase our odds with Luck Gear and get some health and defense boosts at the same time. Check out the stats on this gear.

Demigod Ravager Luck GearWe took this gear out for a test drive. We opened a chest with and without it.

Demigod Luck GearFull disclosure, we opened another chest with it and got only 400 again. So while it increases your luck it is just that, luck. So before you open those chests increase your chances and ‘may the odds ever be in your favor.’

Current packs are offering grey material, green, and blue gears. So the question becomes, how do I get Gold? You get gold by combining materials. The more you have, the better chance you have of obtaining a gold. Below, we talk more about when to take chances with crafting below.

Special Demigod Gear

With the update of the Speed Dungeon and Casino we now have Special Demigod Gear. Here we will provide information on the stats, where to get it, and where to get the tickets or energy to obtain items. These items are available to be upgraded in the Gear Workshop. For more information on how the Gear workshop works check out our City Guide.

The Forge

How do I craft? The in-game blog was nice enough to give us a quick tutorial, however, for more detailed information check out our core crafting guide which provides basic crafting information.

Forge Quick Tips
The table below provides the basic information needed for how many of what material you need to achieve certain levels of gear.

The Numbers

When to Take Chances while Crafting

I think we can all admit that Hero Gear is part of what makes Game of War fun. There is a surprising, and admittedly somewhat absurd, thrill from Crafting a new Piece of Gear and putting it on.
Over the past years this game has evolved and so has the Gear. We have all gotten used to receiving our sets in packs. So we are not used to the requirements of having to craft. For this reason, we are pulling out some oldies but goodies.

With Gear Sets, especially, there seems to be one or two materials that prove particularly elusive. For some players, buying more packs to get these Materials is a legitimate option. For others, targeting Events that offer specific Materials as a reward, along with persistence and determination, will eventually get them to their Gear goal. Sometimes, to get the Gear you want you may just have to roll the dice and get lucky.
Regardless of what type of Game of War player you are, there is a Crafting Method to help you get your Hero Gear of choice. I have identified four different Methods of Crafting that I use, and given a brief description of when I choose them. Each has its benefit, and together these Methods have allowed me to Craft the majority of the Hero Gear that I’ve wanted.

Crafting

Conservative Crafting

This is exactly what it sounds like. It’s the tried and true, guaranteed method. Here, you wait until you have all Legendary Materials for 100% chance of Crafting a Legendary Piece…It’s foolproof. The downside is that it’s also the slowest method. I tend to choose this method for Gear that either has a very high silver cost, or that I really want to be sure of (the last Piece of a Set, for example).

Advantage Crafting

Playing the odds, using 80% Legendary to Craft your Gear in an attempt to save time or materials, or just to cheat the system. I was an early proponent of this method, and Crafted a lot of Legendary Gear at 80%. The odds say that you will win more often than not. Just a warning: everyone has a Nemesis Piece. For me it was the Monster Gauntlet. After going 0/4 at 80%…I actually went with the next method and got lucky.

Double or Nothing Crafting

This method is a little more daring. It is taking the chance with only 40-70% chance of your item turning out Legendary. This is my preferred method of Crafting, and in some circumstances, it’s much more effective—when Crafting Gear that requires both common Materials and rare materials. Take Fire Age Gear: each Piece requires Blue Flames. Due to the difficulty of getting enough Legendary Blue Flames to Craft the Cavalry Set, I started substituting Level 4 Blue Flames on some Pieces.

For example, the Firelord’s Tasset requires one each of White, Red, Blue, and Green Flames. Substituting a Level 4 Blue Flame still gave me a 70% chance of Legendary, and I was able to Craft the Piece much sooner than if I would have waited for 100% Legendary. If you manage your Materials correctly, this method can be hugely advantageous. Instead of the required 14 Legendary Blue Flames, I was able to Craft the Fire Age Cavalry set for 8 Legendary and a couple Epic and Level 4 Blue Flames.
Obviously, there is some risk involved here. First, there is a chance that you waste your Material. And, yes. It happens. Sometimes, in hindsight, it might have been smarter to wait for an Advantage or Conservative Craft.

Second, there is a cost in silver. If your heart is set on Legendary Gear and you Craft Epic, chances are you just threw away a couple hundred million silver. My last article was about the Blacksmith Set being the most underrated Set in Game of War. When used in Double or Nothing Crafting, the Blacksmith Set starts to become truly valuable. I’ve been able to attempt (and successfully Craft) a ton of extra Pieces utilizing Blacksmith Gear, more than I would have otherwise.

Hail Mary Crafting

Again, just what it sounds like: a long shot. That mean 25% Legendary, or less. This is fun, and a huge ego boost when you win, but definitely not to be considered a sound economic strategy. I generally go with the Hail Mary for Gear that I know I will never have the Materials for. The perfect example is some of the Upkeep Reduction Helms. I will probably never have a Legendary Figure of Courage, Pronged Spear, or Snake Symbol. So why wait? So far, I’m 2 for 4…

Cinder and Eagle’s Tips and Tricks

Every piece of gear does not have the same stats, so sometimes you may fare better by crafting a mismatched set then a full set.
Some of the greatest traps from the early days wore mismatched gear. Sometimes that mismatched set will do better for you then the set bonus.

Phoebe and Darius Have a Dream

$

It was deep in the depths of the night, and Darius slumbered peacefully in his Castle, safe behind his pretty blue skirt in Demi-world. A dream began to form behind his closed eyes. Far away in Dragonville, Phoebe also drifted into dreamland, but not as deeply, as she was unshielded and on alert.

In the Dreamscape, both reached an open, burned-out field. Scars gouged the ground from prior battles; the bones of fallen soldiers littered the earth. Staring across the vast expanse, they startled to see each other!

“Phoebe??” bellowed Darius.

“Aye, it is me,” gasped Phoebe. Reaching each other in the center of the field, Darius drew Phoebe in for a hug. Melting into his strong embrace, she wondered, “Is this a dream?” Deciding she didn’t care, she held on a bit longer than was necessary before letting him go.

“Phoebe, tell me about the great battles you’ve fought in the Dragon Realm!” declared Darius.

“Typical,” she thought, “straight to battle talk.” But she decided to humor him with tales of her great battles and glory.

Attacking

“Dragonville is much slower than Demi-world,” she began. “It’s much like the tales we have heard of the days of yore. When I head out to battle, I ride slowly and enjoy the scenery along the way. The glorious battle for the Wonder is incredibly fun. I have found that, although riding my Dragon into battle is enjoyable, he takes a very long time to heal once he is injured. Therefore, I must sometimes rely only on my army to lead the way.”

“Are you a great attacker, Phoebe? Do the bards sing of your greatness?” Darius asked.

“…Nay Darius,” she muttered, “I attack enemies merely to level up my Hero. The best is when they have their Dragon home. I can get up to 300k Hero XP with my XP boost on.”

Defending

“More often, however, I am the one being attacked,” she explained.

“Aye, Phoebe, but who would dare to attack you? My lovely and fierce warrior!” Darius exclaimed. Phoebe almost swooned a moment before she got ahold of herself.

“Why, everyone,” she exclaimed, staring up into his bright blue eyes. “I’m cute and small, and look terribly innocent.”

Darius snorted, rolling his eyes. “Aye, right,” he muttered. “But let me ask you, cute and innocent one. Do you burn, or do you triumph”

“Let me just show you,” she said. “I did discover, that although T2 Traps work well against smaller attackers, they melt quickly against a T4 march.”

“Therefore,” she continued “I am not using traps myself at the moment. I often don’t even have my dragon at home when I am attacked, due to the fact that I need to do some more exploration of his skills and power.”

“Gear is very important,” she went on. “Hitting Monsters and gathering on Monster tiles gives copious materials! I also wait until there is a flash event to combine my materials, as it gives lovely prizes.”

Darius regarded Phoebe with eyes filled with infatuation. “I wish so dearly I could come and park my Castle next to yours, Phoebe,” he exclaimed! “What a wonderful time we could have.”

As the mists swirled around them, Darius leaned down slowly and gently brushed his lips against… ALERT ALERT! Phoebe was rudely jerked awake by the blaring of her notifications. Outside, the enemy armed charged upon her Castle. Glaring out the window, she muttered “Well, this definitely will be one Hero that I will not release…”

Rogueness

Over the last two months, we have been able to get to know some of our favorite Greats in Game of War. With Huckster, we got the perspective of a lead who is often playing the role of Emperor. In Cheminem, we got to see a little bit of everything, as we dubbed him our Tiny Attacking Trap. These guys are great players who have earned the names they have built in Game of War.
If you did not get a chance to read these articles, you will definitely want to go back to take a look at these:
For July, we are going to toss in some Girl Power and feature our favorite Mogu trap, Rogueness. Often when you see Cheminem, Rogueness is not far away. These two players are friends and teammates, and both are amazing players. Rogue has enthralled us with her tiny traps and her vast game knowledge. You will often find her in LINE rooms sharing her knowledge, and she is a huge help to RealTips players.

Meeting Rogue

In game name:  Rogueness (Her traps have taken the names of Pinky, Clarice, LilBunnyFuFu, Rogbit, Gambit, Vixen, and others.)

Accomplishments:  Achieved rank 1 in numerous kill events. Usually places in top 20.  And, in her words, “Not really sure what other achievements I have, lol”

Team:  ONE

I met Rogue before my days with Teamrealtips. It all started in a Line Room for traps. At the time, I played a tiny trap much like Rogue. However, she was much smaller. My jealousy often ran high at the sight of her trap’s tininess. One of the great things that you will notice about Rogue when meeting her in Line is that she does her own thing.

Real traps are inventive and not cookie cutters. Traps are willing to burn and take risks to find what works for them. They know how to build to their strengths and know their accounts and where they are weak and where they are strong. This describes Rogue to a tee; however, she had to start somewhere. We do not download this game and automatically know who we will be, after all, or the answer to the ever present question of Trap or Lead?

Becoming Rogueness

Rogue began playing in October of 2014. She downloaded the game on a covert mission to check out what a friend was up to in the Game of War World. She landed in K358 and found a noob alliance to hook up with. Monster Killing and Farming were what she enjoyed, and when she discontinued her association with the person who drew her to the game, she ditched them — but not Game of War.

Rogue was envious of the bigger accounts that were going around and burning things. She began to reach out to these players, and became friends with players such as Daylight CT, the R5 of [4QA] Paranoid. Shortly after, she joined them with a few of her other alliance members.

She was set up with a mentor/buddy, Zed, who was one of Day’s R4s. From him, she learned a lot about account setup when it came to buildings, strategy with events and monsters, and more. What was a huge help, though, was the day that Day took some time to call her and go over the hero skill tree. He not only went over the tree, but did so box by box, explaining the significance of each stat and how he interpreted their importance in relation to each other.

Day gave Rogue homework to create some cores and show him what she came up with. That was the hooking point for her. Day had a lead account, but enjoyed trapping more, so they would bounce ideas off of each other. At the time, burner traps were Rogue’s favorite to play… until everyone had one.

“Burner traps were my favorite to play, until everyone and their mother’s brother’s uncle had one. Ha!”

Eventually, Rogue and Day shared R5 of the [4QA] alliance. Their alliance was the top-scoring alliance in the merge event between Timo and Ithika, with the traps often being the highest scorers. As the game evolved and people began to leave, they found themselves merging with [LION], Lions of Ithika, which then became Paranoid Lions.

Eventually, Day left the game as well. However, Rogue continued to build and meet new people. Through one of their leads, she met Cheminem. He was the trap that Rogue looked up to in events to see what he was doing. Rogue would compare her play and results to his.

Not knowing him, she always believed him to be an arrogant jerk. She attributes this to the alliance he was in, or maybe even because often some of the best players are in fact arrogant jerks (do not be that person). However, she quickly learned that this opinion was wrong, and he became one of her closest friends.

Rogue began working together with Chem and eventually left [LION] to join [ONE]. The game was declining, and after a month or two in [ONE], Rogue chose to leave the game. In February of this year, Rogue’s “trap wife” Carol May told her she need to return. Demigods had just dropped, and the rumor was that the game was fun again.

Having never actually deleted the game, she logged in and found that the rumors were true. She had kept in touch with Chem even though he had left the game at that point as well. Rogue went to Chem and talked him into logging in as well, and both rejoined the world of Game of War.

Why does Rogue play?

Like all of us, Rogue has her own reasons for playing. However, we wanted to know why she stays.

It’s an enjoyable hiatus from real life stuff, plus the friendships I’ve forged are some of the best I’ve had.”

What is she wearing?

Rogue is well known for her love of glitter gear. If it glitters, she loves it, and we are convinced that she is the reason we keep finding glitter everywhere.

“Since I am an “attacking trap”, my gear is mostly geared towards attack – but I swap between attack and attack rebuff depending on the situation.”

Most memorable win?

Like all traps, Rogue loves her hate mail.

“The merge event against Ithika – I got so much hate mail, and it was pretty great quality reading material.”

Most memorable loss?

“When I was a noob in my little noob alliance – I was r5.  Kannibal Kay and Naze (also from k358) had come to help us learn and teach us how to play.  Apparently during a kill event one night, Naze had a little too much to drink and decided to go take a wonder.  Well, he was successful….my shield dropped when he did, and I woke up in the morning to a million and one “you’re getting attacked” notifications and a zeroed account.  I literally, totally bawled – tears and everything.  Thankfully, my little noob alliance felt bad for me and they all mailed the guy that had my hero.  He was really nice and ended up releasing it.”

Best memories?

Some of our best memories come from the old days.

“Staying up for 48 hours straight to play kill events with 4QA would probably rank up there with my best memories.  I’d call off work, make excuses with non-game friends as to why I couldn’t go out, just so I could stay home, jump on Popcorn, log the game, and have fun with my GOW friends.”
However, as players return and we explore The Demigod and Dragon War Dimension, we are making new memories.
“I have some pretty great recent memories too – since the game isn’t at the point where we can really cap good hits, being able to play small and either just smoke or barely burn has been a lot of fun.  Being able to work with Tess and really see a completely different side to the game, such as SW and even regular wonder play, has been pretty amazing too.”

Advice?

Can I get an AMEN, for this advice! Make sure you read Rogue’s advice to players!

“Don’t chase the carrot – play within your means.  It’s easy to get caught up and spend more than what you have….don’t do it.  Also, remember that there are real people behind the account.  Trash-talking is fun at times, but be a decent human being.  We all play this game to escape something in our lives -some have stuff worse than others going on.  There are some lines that shouldn’t be crossed.”

Fun with Rogue

Rogue is an impressive player, and apparently has many hands!

“I think the maximum number of accounts I’ve played simultaneously in one event reached seven at one point.  6 traps, 1 lead.  I literally confiscated every iPad, iPhone, tablet that I could find in the house, and everyone knew that they would be in use by me until 1 or 2pm the next afternoon.  It wasn’t unusual that I played multiple accounts (I had at least 9 different trap accounts at one time) but seven at one time, with one of those being a lead, was a little hairy.”
We are having so much fun meeting and exploring the different players in our community! I have loved getting to know and writing about the people we all know and love, and we hope you enjoy learning more about them as well! We will bring another player next month! Comment below to let us know who you would like to hear from!

Darius and Phoebe Explore Her Dragon

As night fell on her Stronghold, Phoebe studiously ignored the angry shouts from the prisoners in her dungeon. “Serves them right,” she fumed. “I was so very close to a kiss from my beloved Darius. They can languish there for 3 days until they die of lack of water.”

Suddenly, a baby dragon appeared on her windowsill clutching a scroll in his tiny claws. “Well, this is different,” she mused, gently extracting the message before the adorable little beast burned off her eyebrows.

Spinning in a circle in glee, Phoebe immediately instructed her servants to begin preparing the Stronghold for Darius’ arrival, paying special attention to the pen in which her Dragon resided. The days dragged by slowly as she awaited his arrival. Finally one morning, a bright purple light inside her wardrobe door awakened her. Stepping through the portal was none other than Darius in the flesh!

Clutching the covers to her chest, she exclaimed, “Darius! Could you not have entered through the front door?!”

“My apologies, my love,” he muttered with a scarlet face. “I will await you downstairs in the hall. Perhaps we can venture to the Dragon pen and you can explain to me his skills and abilities.”

Of course, the first thing he thinks about is the dragon, she sulked. After putting on her wardrobe for the day, she met Darius downstairs and led him to the great enclosure where her Dragon resided. “Let me explain to you the skills he possesses,” she declared. “Resetting the Dragon’s skills is free, so you may adjust any time you like. The maximum boost allowed is limited by the level of the Dragon.

“As the Dragon’s health decreases, so does its benefits, so beware. He must rest at home and regain HP before he is fully prepared for battle again.”

“This is amazing, Phoebe,” said Darius. “What is your Dragon’s name?”

“Ummm,” she said, “I haven’t named him yet. What shall we call him?” As Phoebe and Darius pondered, their Dragon paced back and forth in front of them, finally sitting down with an exasperated huff.

“I know!” exclaimed Phoebe, “We can call him Smokey.”

“Phoebe,” said Darius, glancing up and down the Dragon, “I think you’re missing something vitally important. Your Dragon appears to be a girl.” Phoebe blushed beet red, as she realized she’d been so engrossed in the Dragon’s abilities, she hadn’t even thought to check.

“Let’s ponder the name awhile longer,” she stated. Darius was so entranced with her embarrassment and cute red cheeks that he leaned in closer, meaning to brush a kiss against her fair lips. Suddenly, a wet and very warm snout pushed its way between their faces, resulting in two kisses on a very pleased Dragon’s snout.

“Again, really?” Phoebe glared at her steed. “I do believe I’m going to have to ghost rally you now to get a minute alone…”

Surviving Game of War

As with all war games, there can be a dark side to Game of War. In every life situation, there are positives and negatives. Somehow, we learn to survive Game of War and we find our reasons to continue playing and investing in the community we have built.

We play for many reasons. Some of those reasons, at times, will spill over into this world and affect how we communicate with and treat others. The drama can be overwhelming at times. So, how do you survive Game of War? In this article, we will explore why various members of the community play, and how to deal when drama rears its head.

Why do we play?

Why do we play? What makes this community worth it? I have my own thoughts. I also asked some of our friends in Line.

Why I Play

The Community. This answer feels obvious. Many of us have stated over and over again that the community is what keeps us coming back and keeps us playing. However, what is it about the community?

There might be Keyboard Warriors, there might be people that are just plain hateful — but on other days, you meet the person that makes it worth it. You meet the person you fall in love with, or your best friend who is there in the moments where you feel alone. You meet the person that checks in just to make sure that you are there and okay because they care. You meet the person you can tell things that you cannot even tell your family.

You meet another type of family. Another support system. Game of War has truly built a culture of its own. With a vast variety of people that become more then just the people you game with. I have not met all of those people but I have met so many people and my life has changed because of the community that I have met in Game of War.

Why others in the community Play

“I continue to play because I enjoy it. I love the teamwork. I love the never-ending updates to keep everyone on their toes. I hate the expense, but it is what it is.”

~SmotPoker

“I play because I like the game, and I continue to play because after work and school I need something to help relax. I enjoy the game and the challenges.”

~Destiny

“I play because my friends also play. It’s also fun to try and figure out the drops, stats, etc.”

~Chem

“I play because it’s fun. Also have gotten to the point where proving it is a strategy game just adds to the fun. Nothing better then in-game hate mail from the “credit card warriors.”

~Liam

“The people we come in contact with.”

~Beatrice

“The reason I still play is because I love to kill monsters. Plus, I have a lot of good gaming friends that I talk to daily. Also, I’m digging that the new world can burn people at SH 16.”

~Lord Lima Bean

“I play for the fun and other players. I came to this game when there was a lot going on in my personal life, and it was a good distraction that became an everyday affair which was better then T.V. You’re interacting with other people. The good, the bad, and the B*****.”

~FunHaz

“I play ’cause of the friends I’ve made. And ’cause MZ is good at sucking me back in by making changes just as I’m ready to quit for good. Love having monsters that don’t take half a trillion energy to attack. I can play without spending again.”

~Crystal Girl

“Well, I play as a stress reliever… as crazy as that sounds… GOW allows me to get away from the normal daily buzz from work and just converse with good people who make me laugh and forget about the stress.”

~Asia

“I like my friends. They are like family to me. I take breaks when MZ gets ridiculous. The updates are something I look forward to, even if I don’t buy packs.”

~ Kayper

“I started playing after I was diagnosed with Lyme disease. I had to quit my job as a teacher and became disabled. I was bored, got introduced to GOW through a mutual friend. Almost 5 years later, I’ve made some lifelong friends and continue to meet some amazing people from all over the world. Keeps me busy and somewhat productive.”

~SweetnSasi

“I play because I love strategy, I love teaching and helping others play, and the biggest reason is because of all the wonder ful people I’ve met. Including my soon to be baby daddy.”

~Carol May

Delving into the Darker Side — What is it?

Game of War has a darker side. There is no denying it. However, this darker side that I speak of comes with any community. It is not unique to Game of War. Game of War is just the community that affects us.

For many people, Game of War is a hiatus or an escape from the reality of their daily lives. However, as we often see sometimes, in a digital world our frustrations are easier to spill out when we do not have to see who we are talking to face-to-face. It is easier to distance yourself and let hateful words fly when you are not faced with the consequences of your actions. When we allow this to happen, our hiatus becomes unsafe and we are left confused and hurt.

We have seen players who mortgage their entire lives on Game of War. They become so entangled in the game that it begins to effect their real lives and regardless of the consequences they do not stop.

We have all seen the darker side to the community. We know it exists and we deal with it day in and day out. However, we have the opportunity to be proactive and to shape our community in a way that makes it unique from any other. How do you survive Game of War and not allow it to take over then? I have some quick tips for you.

Surviving Game of War

So with the darker side of the community how does one Survive Game of War?

  1. Never spend beyond your means.
  2. Having an escape is okay, but do not allow it to take over. When your escape starts to hinder your ability to function in daily life, it is time to back away some.
  3. Know that it is okay to take a break if you need it.
  4. Always remember that there are real people with real feelings on the other side of the screen.
  5. Remember that it is okay to use the block button.
  6. Ask for help if you need it.
  7. Surround yourself with the people that make it enjoyable and fun.
  8. Remember — it should be fun!
  9. Learn to balance the amount of time spent investing here and the amount of time invested in other things.
  10. I know I already said this, but ask for help if you need it and it is okay to use the block button!

Some of the best advice I have seen for this lately came from Rogueness in our Player Profile last week.

The Game of War community has persisted for many years. There are so many reasons that this community continues on. We all have our days when we want to delete the app and disappear, but there are so many things and people that keep us around.

Remember this is our community and we are responsible for what we make it. We can choose to sit back and watch the dark side take over… or we can be active and make the community a place that people want to be. A place that fosters a healthy relationship with gaming and does not allow others to be torn apart.

I know that this article was more somber then most, but this is something that we have all seen and is prevalent within the community. So I’d like to encourage you to choose to make the community better and choose to be the person you want to meet on the other side of the screen.

A Walk Down Memory Lane

Take a walk down memory lane with Teamrealtips. Game of War has been around for many years. Over the time that the game has existed, we have made many friends and many memories. We are tied together by the memories and the joy we share in this game. Let’s celebrate those memories! Communities make memories and memories make communities.

Cinder’s Walk Down Memory Lane:

“My favorite Game of War memory is from a long time ago, before I was part of Teamrealtips, when I was visiting some friends in 442. I had gone just to get away from my kingdom at the time. As a trap, I wasn’t getting the hits that I typically did because everyone knew me. Commonly I would look in KC to see people post my coords and others would warn them away.

442 was one of my favorite kingdoms to visit, as there was no lack of hits there, and my friends would gladly oblige me if I needed a hit to test. Many times I capped them, but other days I gave them many kills. One day, confident of my capping skills, I unshielded and set out to cap me some heroes. As was usual with that kingdom, it wasn’t long until I was capping heroes and receiving emails from people begging for their emails.

On this day, I received the best email that I ever received as a trap. I wish that I still had the screenshot in my possession. I received an email that said, ‘You know that picture of the kitten looking in the mirror? The one who see’s a Lion? Yeah, that’s you.’

This is the best compliment I have ever received as a trap, and to this day I still recall that email!”

Lion in Mirror

  • If you are T5- and T6-based, this is a hero you will definitely want to look into for its T5 and T6 Specific Stats.

Hero Level

Let’s look at Hero levels from each side:

Attack and Wonder

As a lead player, you want your hero to be the highest level possible. Hero levels give great boosts in attack and health.

Defense

If your goal is just defense so that you can unshield, your hero should definitely be leveled as high as possible. However, many of us old-school traps know that there used to be more strategy regarding whether or not you level up your hero. We are left wondering if, with Demigods, some of this strategy will return. For traps, hero level used to be key because if your hero level was too high, leads would not hit.

All of these need to be taken into account when choosing whether or not to level your hero:

  • Is the cost of this feature realistic for me?
  • Are the stats worth the possible decreased hits due to hero level?
  • If I choose not to level up, where else can I get stats that I am missing from hero levels?

Skilling of the Hero Tree

Skilling is no longer as simple as it was with previous heroes. We do not have massive amounts of skill points to allocate wherever we want, and it is not cut-and-dry “start at the bottom and work your way up.” Your points need to be very well-planned.

Things to Consider when Skilling:

  1. In order to put just one point in the bottom skill, you must use 24 points.
  2. Just because you unlock a box doesn’t mean you can max that skill; you must be a certain hero level to max the skill.
  3. Points are very limited (below, we will cover hero costs and points).
  4. Hero Presets do not open until VIP 1305.
  5. Hero Preset items are very rare and difficult to get, which makes using this feature difficult.

There are multiple factors to consider when skilling your hero. On the defense and attack side, skilling for attack will be very important. Here at Teamrealtips, we recommend skilling using a setup even the current Emperor, Huckster (73V) uses!

The theory with this skilling setup is that you provide max protection for your traps, which die first and max attack for traps because they are a huge factor. You want your points for trap defense and attack as high as possible and then use any leftover points in a troop attack slot. Attack is currently important for defense players, as it allows them to kill more of their Attacker’s march.

Which Hero

With the multitude of Heroes, at times choosing the right hero to use can be difficult. We have created a table for the heroes so you can look at a side-by-side comparison of their stats. We will look at Combat Stats and Economy Stats. The number in the table is what the Hero offers at max skilled level. So be aware that, depending on your Hero Level, you may still need to make adjustments for yourself.

Demigod Combat Stats

Demigod Economy Hero 7/31Demigod Overlimit March Stats
Demigod Overlimit 7/31Demigod Debuffs

Demigod Debuffs 7/31The Other Heroes

WIth Demigods resetting the game, are all of those other heroes irrelevant? Mostly, but not completely. If you plan on hitting any monsters, your Demigod Hero has no skills for this, so using your original hero is best for this function.

Bait traps! Toss your old hero on with old gear and swap that hero! With the expense of gear presets for those who love bait trapping, this brings a whole new level of strategy.

We have heard of many other uses for your Hero out there. People are using this hero for cost reductions with powering up and more! So be sure to check the Eco stats on your Original Hero and see how it can help you.

Hero Garrison

While the Hero Garrison is still in your city there is currently no demigod stats included here. Therefore, this is a feature you do not need to factor into your calculations.

Equip Your Hero

Gear

Now that your trees are skilled, equip your hero with the best gear possible. For a list of the best gear, check out our Gear Guide.

With the massive update, your hero will need to be at the top of his game to survive. Do you have what it takes?

Our Heroes Venture into the Black Market

A commotion outside the Stronghold caught Phoebe and Darius’ attention as they sat in the hall dining on bread and cheese. Venturing to the gates, they asked a passerby what the noise was all about.

“The Black Market has opened,” the serf stated, “as well as the Black Market Master Dungeon. It is free to unlock!”

Donning their cloaks, Phoebe and Darius followed the crowd, winding their way through the town until the streets became narrow and the ground dark and dank. Hooded figures weaved through the crown, pickpocketing those who were not paying attention. “What is this place?” Phoebe whispered.

“Fear not, fair maiden, I shall protect you,” Darius replied. Phoebe rolled her eyes, but played along.

Black Market Master Dungeon

Turning the last bend, they faced the entrance to the Black Market Mast Dungeon. Towering high above their heads, the yawning gulf enticed them to enter.

Clutching the free Black Market Master Dungeon Energy that Athena had bestowed on them, they slowly passed the gates into the dungeon. The path diverged in several different directions, with signs leading to the Speed Dungeon, Gem Dungeon, and finally, the Black Market Master Dungeon.

Leaping into the fierce hall, they drove their swords through the Dragon as many times as they could, each hit costing one thousand Energy. In return, they received chests to open that contained tokens for the Black Market.

“I wonder what types of items we can purchase with our bounty?” mused Darius. Pushing their way through the crowd back out into the sunlight, they ventured their way out of the seedy trenches of north side Dragonville into the wide open streets, and headed directly for the Black Market.

Black Market

Upon entering the market, Phoebe and Darius grabbed a quick bite to eat (as their breakfast had been disturbed) and began browsing. They discovered many desired items for sale, such as Advanced Ports, Gear Chests, Loyalty, and March Speed-ups.

Quickly spending their tokens on Advanced Teleports for later attacking purposes, they realized they wanted more! “Phoebe, where can we obtain more of these tokens?” Darius asked.

“From packs and events, Darius,” Phoebe stated. “Let’s head home.”

As they passed through the Stronghold gates to Phoebe’s Castle, Darius sighed deeply. “I must return soon to my own land, lass,” he grumbled. “The Demigods are summoning me for a task. May I ask that you await my return? I am going to request a permanent transfer to Dragonville so that we might sit our Strongholds next to each other. Maybe we can even have matching names, like I’ve seen on some couple’s banners.”

“That’s pushing it, Darius, but yes I will wait for you,” she sighed. “Please return posthaste.”

As Darius vanished into the Portal in a flash of purple, Phoebe glumly sent her troops out to gather and flopped down on the ground to sulk. “Next time,” she thought, “I’m caging him in with the Dragon so he can’t escape.”

A Dragonville City Walkthrough

Welcome to your Dragon City. While many features are similar to ones that we are used to there are also some unique ones as well. In this Guide, we will cover your Dragonville City and include all the information you need to know as you work on your setup.

We have heard the Dragon War Dimension called many things. Among the community, it has been known as “the basement,” “Dragonville,” “the Toothless Realm” (if you do not get this reference, go watch How to Train your Dragon… now), and much more. Whatever you choose to call the Dragon War Realm, it has sparked many players’ interest. Therefore, Teamrealtips will work to get guides out to you so that you can be successful as you build your city among the dragons.

A City Walkthrough

For this guide, we will be walking through the city and exploring each building and its functions. Some will be familiar, others may be new, but hopefully we will be able to give you a basic understanding of what is going on in your Dragon City.

Dragon’s Den

The Dragon’s Den is one of the very first buildings you encounter when beginning your Dragonville account. This is where your Dragon will reside. I named mine Ruby, so Ruby lives in her Den in my Dragon City.

One thing that most players have noted is that if you are not currently able to level up your Dragon, it may be better to wait to hatch it. Dragon Level Up Crystals are only available in packs, and the higher levels can be costly.

We talked some about the Dragon’s Den in Enter The Dragon Dimension. More information can be found there, but we will cover some of the basics here as well.

Dragon Facts
  • Leveling up your Dragon Costs Dragon Level Up Crystals.
  • Your Dragon has HP (Hit Points), and takes damage like your Troops do.
  • As HP decreases in Combat, Attack and Defense boosts will decrease with it.
  • Your Dragon’s stats can be customized utilizing a skill tree.
  • Your Dragon can join Rallies and Marches and will assist in Combat.
  • The Dragon must be at 100% HP to participate in Rallies or Marches.
  • You can send up to 9 Dragons per Rally.
  • Your Dragon can occupy and defend your Empire, Resource Tiles, Wonder, etc.
  • Your Dragon will naturally heal itself over time while it rests in the Dragon’s Den.
  • Instant Heal Items can be found in Special Sales.

This building maxes out at Level 2. Benefits provided by this building are:

  • Dragon Reinforcement Capacity: 9
  • Dragon March Size: 1
  • Dragon Rally Size: 10
The Dungeon

Every good city needs a dungeon! Where else would the monsters lurk? You certainly do not want them out among the common folks, they frighten easily. The Dungeon is your access point for your Speed Dungeon and your Explorer Dungeon. The Dungeon stays at level 1 and does not go to a higher level.

Speed Dungeon

The Speed Dungeon, we are familiar with. It is where we go to kill our Lightning Shardbeast. This beast will drop not only Speed Up items, but resources, making it a valuable asset to our cities. In addition, there have now been special dungeons added for gems and the black market, so be sure to check out that dungeon as it contains valuable treasures.

DungeonsExplorer Dungeon

The Explorer Dungeon is not yet available. It is there, but is not something we have been able to access at this point. However, if it is similar to the Explorer Dungeon of the past, it will offer very helpful rewards for slaying the monsters that lie within.

Black Market

The Black Market is new to Dragonville. It needs to be unlocked, but unlike our Black Market in the Demigod Dimension, the Unlock is free. Here, you can buy different items for your Dragon City utilizing Black Market coins. These can be obtained through the Gold Store and by participating in special Black Market Events.

Portal

The Portal is where you travel between the Demigod Dimension and the “basement.” It only levels to one and its sole use is to transport you between dimensions.

Portal

Stronghold

The Stronghold is the center of your city. The level of your Stronghold determines most of what you are able to do and what buildings you can unlock. In addition, tapping on your Stronghold will also give you an overview of your city’s economy. The Stronghold in Dragonville currently goes to Level 30.

Stronghold Benefits

Below, you can see what benefits you receive at each Stronghold Level. Certain buildings that are dependent on your Stronghold Level are listed as well, so that you can see when these open.

The Academy

The Academy is where you complete research. Currently, we have four research trees in Dragonville:

  • Hero
  • Combat
  • Wall Traps
  • Economics

Upgrading your academy speeds up your research and also allows access to new improvements for your city. Research does add good stats to your setup, but also gives a substantial increase in Power, so if you want to stay low-power, be aware of the power that is being added by your research.

Hall of War

The Hall of War comes with its own set of abilities. This is where your rallies gather and leave from within your city, and we all love a good rally. The War is led by the Hero of the Player who initiated the Rally. By increasing the level of your Hall of War, you can increase the number of troops you can send in a given Rally at a time.

The Prison does not open until Stronghold Level 15. At this point, your Hero is now able to be captured and you can capture the Heroes of your Attackers. Upgrading your Prison will decrease the amount of time you need to hold your enemies heroes before being able to execute. In addition, by holding Heroes in your prison, you are able to gain additional Attack benefits based off the Level of the Prisoner. You receive these benefits at Prison Level 30.

Altar

The Altar opens at Stronghold 20. This building works hand-in-hand with your Prison, as you cannot execute the Heroes in your Prison until you have an Altar. In addition, the Altar provides some great benefits when your Altar Boost is active.

Gymnos

The Gymnos is all about your Hero. The purpose of this building is to give your Hero an XP Bonus and to retain XP for descendant Heroes. The higher the level of this building, the better your Hero XP modifier. If you are looking for XP for your Hero leveling, this building is super important.

Marketplace

Our next building is the Marketplace. This building will allow you to send resources to other Alliance Members. By leveling up your Marketplace, you can increase the amount of help you can send your fellow Alliance Member and decrease the tax that you pay when sending Help. If you like to share in the wealth, this building will be a huge help.

Cinder’s Sneaky Tip: One of the reasons I love the marketplace is that if I am looking for an Alliance Mate, and they are not online, I can simply send a march of resources to them and follow the march! This could also be used for other… ummmm… covert missions.

Storehouse

The Storehouse protects a portion of your resources from enemy attacks. A higher-level Storehouse will protect more resources. So if you want to keep your resources safe when you are being attacked, be sure to upgrade this building.

The Forge

Let’s be honest, this is my favorite building. Here is where you will combine materials and craft gear. You can also combine Gems here or collectibles. Leveling up the Forge will give you benefits as well, including Normal Equipment Crafting Cost Reduction, and at Level 21 you unlock your second accessory slot for gear.

Watchtower

The Watchtower warns you of all incoming marches targeting your city and your city’s encampments. Leveling up this building will give you further details as you progress.

Barracks, Hospitals, and Villas, oh my!

Traditionally we are used to our Barracks, Hospitals, and Villas offering set stats. However, in Dragonville, this is different. Barracks are where we train our troops, but here they no longer offer Health or Defense. Barracks give bonuses for training. By increasing the number of Barracks and the level, you can increase the number of troops you can train at once and decrease the cost.

The Hospital no longer gives Health or Defense benefits, either. The level and number of hospitals you have, however, does control how many beds you have. If you want to set up so that more troops go to the hospital than die, you will want to build more hospitals and level them up.

Finally, we have Villas. The Villas are still for production of Silver, but they also offer a Troop Defense Bonus. This benefit starts at Level 10 and increases with the number of Villas you have.

These are where you create the rest of your resources needed to complete functions within the Dragon Realm. By increasing the level of these buildings, you can increase the amount of resources that you produce. In addition, by increasing the level of these buildings, you can increase your holding capacity for these resources. If you have more resources than your Empire Capacity, your RSS buildings will stop producing.

There are so many more features in Dragonville that Teamrealtips is working to find out more about so we can continue to bring you the best information possible. As buildings are added and we continue to learn more, we will keep this guide updated with the latest information possible.

The Dragonville Grind

When we build our accounts, we put time and money into them. Most of us want to see our investment go a long way, and to be able to successfully play without emptying our pockets. Recently with the release of Dragon War Dimension, players have found a new old love.

To many, the Dragon War Dimension is reminiscent of old school Game of War and players are in love with this aspect. The pace is definitely slower, and there are many differences from the Demigod Dimension. One of the things that players currently appreciate about the Dragon War Dimension is the ability to spend minimally and be successful. Grinding in the Dragon War Dimension can take you a long way.

On a budget, or missing the old days? Read on, where we will cover multiple aspects of the Dragon War Dimension and how you can grind and be successful. We will also include some of our favorite tips and tricks that we have come across!

The Dragonville Grind

Welcome to the Dragonville Grind. Get your fingers ready and let’s get to clicking!

Events

The events in Dragon War Dimension give excellent prizes. You should definitely be sure to watch events and periodically check linked events on the Demigod side. Below, we will list some events to look out for. Remember, the events are constantly changing, so keep your eyes open.

Dragon Side Events
  • Monster Event – There is typically a linked monster event going on. You can obtain prizes for this event, but note they are for the Demigod side. So if you do not need these items, don’t waste your energy on killing monsters to complete these. With some of the KvK events once again including Monster killing, you want to be sure to save excess energy for these events.
  • Build Event – This is another linked event, but it does offer prizes on the Dragon War Dimension side as well, such as Speed Ups, Dark Energy, Resources, Loyalty, Daily Chances, and Gathering Speed Boosts. If you are looking to level up your Stronghold on the Dragon Side, it may be worth doing it in conjunction with this event. (Remember to stop until it resets once you hit the prizes!)
  • Dragon Den Event – Are you looking to level up your Dragon? If so, do it in conjunction with this linked event. This will give prizes in both the Demigod and Dragon War Dimensions. On the Demigod Side you will get things such as Boost Creation Components and More. On the Dragon Side you will obtain Hero XP, VIP Points, Dark Energy, and Speed Ups.
  • Speed Dungeon Events– Get to hitting your Speed Dungeon Monster. These events give you the opportunity to earn March Speed Ups, Resources, Gem Savers, and Daily Chances.
  • KvK Events – These are not linked events, typically, but it is very important to complete them. They typically give some of the best prizes, including but not limited to ports, gold, Speed Ups, Hero Energy, and Resources. Of course, the most sought-after prizes of Gold and Advanced Teleports are the third prize, and the most difficult to obtain.
  • Recovery Events – Recovery Events typically come after Kill events or KvK events. These events will give a variety of good prizes to work towards obtaining, and usually are not linked.
  • Alliance Events – Alliance Events are great to work towards, as the prizes include things like Gear gifts, VIP gifts, and Hero gifts. These events are done as a team, so you only earn the prizes if you participate (keeping the slackers from riding on the hard work of others).
Demigod Linked Events

On the Demigod side, there will be linked events where you can earn prizes for your Dragon War Dimension account, so it is important to check in and make sure that you are getting the most out of these events to help your Dragon Growth. Here you can earn RSS, Hero Energy, and more. We hear of some people that disappear into the “underworld,” never to be heard from again, but do not forget to check the Demigod Linked events!

Grind your Hero

Your Dragonville Hero is waiting to lead you to victory. However, in order to do so, you must level that Hero up. In order to be able to wear Gear or have more skill points for stat increases, it is necessary to level up your Hero. While there are many ways to obtain Hero XP, there are some tricks and tips to help you level faster.

Where to Get Hero XP
  • Events
  • Alliance Gifts
  • Some Empire Quests
  • Alliance, VIP, and Daily
  • Attacking or Defending
  • Completing tasks around your City such as building or researching
  • Gold
  • Packs

Tricks and Tips: Attacking will help you to get a lot of experience. Additionally, you can receive materials to help when attacking! So be on the lookout for others to attack.

The Resource Grind

Resources are the core of our grind to improve. Just about everything in Game of War requires ever-valuable Resources. We have some tricks and tips to help make sure that you are getting the most out of your resources.

Resource Tricks and Tips
  • Food is the trickiest resource you will run into. Gathering Food will put it straight into your stores, so if you have a hungry army, it will be gone in no time. There are boosts and skills you can use to help with your resources, but if your army is consuming more then you are producing, it will be gone. Due to this, make sure that you only open food bundles as you need them.
  • Tiles aren’t great for food since your army will just eat it, but they are a great way to gather other resources. Also, if your army is not consuming all your food, then gather away. Make sure you check frequently to make sure your troops have not returned home while you were away.
  • Only open resource items as you need them, to avoid being farmed.
  • Complete Quests.
  • If you do not mind the power and are looking for more resources, be sure to complete Economics Research.

The Gear and Gem Grind

We all love Gear, and a great thing about the Dragon War Dimension right now is that you do not necessarily have to purchase packs to get Gear. While it takes time to level up your Hero to use the better Gear, you can start working towards getting the materials you need from day one.

  • Kill and Hit Monsters
  • Collect Monster Tiles
  • Open Alliance Gifts
  • Events
  • Speed Dungeon
  • Attack

The VIP Grind

VIP is also essential. Not only does VIP help with all of your city functions, it also provides stats and some other special features. So making sure that you are moving that VIP up to utilize it to its fullest is essential.

Find VIP here:

  • Alliance Gifts
  • Events
  • Daily Logins

The Loyalty Grind

Loyalty is not new to Game of War, but the extent that it is used is new. Needless to say, earning Loyalty and saving it up is super important. You can purchase a lot of different items in the Alliance Store with Loyalty.

Where to Find Loyalty:
  • Alliance Quests
  • Hitting and Killing Monsters
  • Alliance Gifts
  • Packs

Grind, Grind, Grind

Overall, there are several things you should be doing on a daily basis to get the most out of your Dragon War Dimension Account. We will list some of those things below.

The Daily Grind
  • Open Alliance Gifts – These expire every 24 hours and you do not want to miss out on them. They will give materials, Gold, VIP, Hero XP, and more. In addition, the more gifts your alliance opens, the higher your gift level becomes. The higher your gift level, the better gifts you get.
  • Kill Monsters – Log in, hit or kill monsters with the energy you have saved, log out and let energy build back up, repeat.
  • Complete Alliance, VIP, and Daily Quests – These give resources, Hero XP, Gold, and Loyalty, so they are great to complete. Some have theorized that if you complete them in order, you get better quests each time. Try it out and let us know if it’s true.
  • Complete Empire Quests – These give different items that are useful; however, use caution! These also give a lot of power, so if you are looking to stay low power then DO NOT collect these.
  • Gather – When you are not out Monster Hunting, be sure to have your marches out gathering. Whether it be on Resource or Monster Tiles, you can easily send your army out in a few seconds and log back out.
  • Log in – Do NOT, DO NOT, forget to log in everyday. By logging in everyday, you increase your login streak for VIP, and you can collect those Alliance gifts at the same time.

Simply put, there are a lot of ways that you can work to optimize what is available to you in the Dragon War Dimension. We have put some of our favorite grinding methods and tips and tricks above. Comment below with the tips and tricks you have found!

Player Spotlight: WolfofOne001

It’s August, and we have another Player Spotlight for you this month. We are having so much fun learning more about the players in our community and their time playing Game of War. If you have not been keeping up with our Player Spotlights, take the chance to go back and read! We have met some great players!

Emperor Huckster

The Tiny Fighting Trap

Rogueness

This month, we are taking the chance to look at another lead player. We have heard it said about Wolf that people like that he is willing to take chances. He will send soloes at players who are notoriously known for not burning, and doesn’t shy away even if he does not get the hit he wants. We were excited to learn more about him and bring you all his story.

Becoming WolfofOne001

Alliance: Currently: |PhB Past:  Mafia Kings (MK), 386 Fight Club (3E6), Reapers of Doom, Pox, My own when I first started

Just like every player, Wolf has his own story of what brought him to the game.

I was a year out from a serious elbow injury and was still emotionally scarred by it.  I was bored with World of Warcraft and the young age of the players.  Age of Empires had turned into a mechanical game with no real storyline.  Basically, I was searching for an adult, strategy online game.  Yes, I saw the Kate Upton commercial, but when I discovered it was for playing a game on a phone, I decided to try it.  This was around December 28, 2014.

He downloaded the game and immediately realized that there was a lot of information about the game, but nothing on how to play the game. He stated that then he was hooked! He quickly realized that when he logged off, the game did not stop, and that peace shields were essential. He tried hitting monsters, but found that in order to do so he needed an alliance.

So he made his own, not realizing that there was a setting to prevent others from joining. Quickly, his alliance grew to 100 players and he had no clue who they were or what their motivation was. This is what Wolf said about the early days of running his own Alliance,

Suddenly, I had 100 players that I had no clue who they were and what their motivation was.  I had to deal with sexual harassment (sent a warning mailer to cease or be kicked), gripes about inactive players, attacks by others, how to attack, etc.

However, it was not all bad, and Wolf also met a nice player MichelleDom, who over time was a great team player as they joined different alliances together. Wolf found running the Alliance to be a challenge and too much and he dissolved it and joined Pox.

That was the first real alliance that ruled Pelagos (386) and I felt honored.  That lasted about 2 months before newer alliances appeared, Rogue Horses, Phoenix Kings and others.  Pox eventually fell to these new challengers, and I became a member of an alliance that over several months became Reapers of Doom, lead by Hurley and CuntMuffin (yes that was her name in the game).  That was a hard-hitting group with no fear of anyone.  Unfortunately, drama and internal dissension caused that alliance to implode.

However, Wolf had ties to a group of ex-Pox players led by Natch (aka ShearedBeaver), Ogacihc, Kodo, P0P0, Rasti, TheTig, Hawk985, Kiid, Webbscc, H0PE and others commonly known as 3E6 (386 Fight Club).

That alliance formed as an opposition to Rogue Horse, as that group tried to monopolize the kingdom.  Others alliances were good but not enough to get RH% back to reality.  Thus, Fight Club (FC) was born.  They did not have a lot of money, so they focused on strategy.  Hitting RH% when they least expected, getting other alliances to then fight RH%, trapping like crazy and using multiple rallies against a single player, even if several failed because eventually, that player would crack.  Eventually, the pressure broke RH% and cause a group of several players to form a new alliance called the Unsullied ones (USL) whose sole purpose was to challenge FC.  It was during these extreme combative times I evolved into a rally leader. I even held a wonder and learned how to transfer title so that the best equipped player can hold the wonder while the rally was about to hit.

Wolf stated that eventually, FC became the premier alliance, and that at that point the alliance started to develop dissension and began a slow decline as players left. Eventually, they joined up with former members of Phoenix Kings under the alliance Mafia Kings.

That is where I truly shone as a rally leader, as they had no fear and were willing to test the bounds on who was attackable.  Tamir, GrnEvl, Kings and others were real friends and tried to give everyone a chance. Unfortunately, GOW became so expensive that no one could even fill rallies. After several months, I was recruited by |PfB and have been able to get back to rallies and even wonders!

  1. Held several kingdom wonders, Lord of War for Teos, team player

Why Does Wolf Play?

I enjoy the camaraderie, the thrill of an attack, the nervousness when defending (particularly heroless), seeing players grow in the game, having great opponents who challenge you to do better.

What is he wearing?

I am wearing Obsidian challenger gear with an Obsidian Conqueror weapon. This is my basic rally gear.  I do have all Obsidian wonder gear but do not have the Obsidian Conqueror weapon for that yet.  I use the galaxy gem set but I’m slowing switching to the newer ones.  Ebon runes in the weapon.

Most Memorable Wins

I have had several memorable wins but my first one was when I was with FC and at the very end of a KE, I was being rallied by the 2nd (I think) player of the opposing kingdom. Having watch traps, I waited as long as possible, switched to 4H gear and then did a random port.  I captured the hero and executed just as the KE ended!  My second memorable event was when I got a capture on the leader of the Unsullied Ones (USL), Viper, and renamed him as ILoveNatch.

Best memories

Wolf was kind enough to share some of his best memories with us! Check them out below!

“When Fight Club became the premier alliance, especially during KE, we used to dominate for several events that our traps had to quit because no one would attack them. I had a blast being the one who would lead a rally that freed other rally leaders. I tried hard to fill first, then lead.

Another memory was playing until the wee hours fighting over a wonder in the 386; we lost it after 5 hours and 45 minutes to Mafia Kings after kicking out RH%.  I was up late and noticed that a player was burning but not getting hurt too bad.  I quickly got a bunch of fillers and we rallied that player until we zeroed him.  Those that joined me loved it as it was so unexpected.  My first zero occurred when I was walking my dog in the morning and let my shield drop.  Never again!  I later got two other zeroes last year when GOW introduced game changes with gear.  Talk about a shock; the day before, I would cap rallies with no losses then the next day a solo attack zeroed me.  This is pre-DemiGod change.

There was a player named FartHouse that demonstrated to all of 386 how to handle rallies while heroless.  Absolutely incredible as no one could even come close to capping him, even though he burned.  We all gave up!

One player that I must mention is Patton.  He was the first player that taught the entire kingdom that the game is about attacking and getting heroes as prisoners.  He was feared and hated by so many but in reality, he was just trying to teach players either bulk up or shield up; any other position means you are meat for fanatical players.  He would tile-hit anyone, appear at hives and zero the shieldless and was fearless in KE.  Unfortunately, he had too many personal issues and had to leave.  I do miss him.

Today, I get a blast at burning Cheminem and Rogueness with a solo attacks!”

Advice to players

Wolf had some great advice to players that you should be sure to check out.

  1. It is a game, not a reality or a reflection on who you are.
  2. Say what you want in Kingdom Chat, but be very careful what you say in Alliance Chat.
  3. Do not talk like a 13 year old who discovered pornography.
  4. Be a team player by filling, offering real advice, and supporting everyone who plays with you.
  5. Try to reach out to opponents by congratulating them on their success or suggesting what they can do better next time. We all need to learn.
  6. Laugh at every chance or else you will lose your sense of reality!
  7. I have seen players literally commit social suicide in the game which is quite sad. Drunken or chemically induced talk may seem like bravado but ultimately, you will regret it and have to leave the game in disgrace.
  8. Finally, no game takes the place of real life responsibilities.

We had so much fun getting to know Wolf and hope that you enjoyed it as well! We cannot wait to bring you next month’s Player Spotlight. As always, be sure to let us know whose story you would like to hear next!

Building Levels

“We Shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us.” Winston Churchill

Get ready to Shape your stronghold with your building levels! However, this is strategy to how you build! Let’s take a look! From the exterior to the interior, what’s important? Now with Demigod levels a whole new game has come into play. In order, to even open Demigod Features your stronghold has to be level 1101. To open certain researches your Academy has to be different levels.

So whether, you want to be Emperor, a Demigod Trap, or just safe your building levels come into play and are extremely important.

Teamrealtips Emperor

Strategy

So what is the strategy with leveling up your Stronghold so that you’re stronger than Fort Knox? Go as max as possible or wait? Well let’s look at this from both sides.

Attack and Wonder

If you are an attack and wonder player you definitely want to be as max as possible on your building levels. These building levels will increase your stats and march size. You want to be the most feared anyways so level up that building.

Defense

On the defense side higher level buildings give more defense. So if you are aiming to just not burn, build away! However, with new demigod building levels certain levels are needed in order to attain certain stats. Building stats matter more now than they have in the past. However, the question remains whether or not players will be able to compensate in other places for stats that new building levels give.

Inside your Stronghold

What Buildings should you build? Barracks, Villas, or Hospitals… (oh my)

  • Villas provide attack
  • Hospitals provide defense
  • Barracks provide health

The first thought of traps will be to go for Health and Defense. However, don’t forget that you also need attack to be able to kill your attackers march. There is a balance needed when building your stats. For more information on our defense vs. attack testing check it out here.

The Academy

Academy

The Academy is a crucial building in your city when it comes to Demigods. In order, to even unlock Demigod Research your Academy must be at level 1101. In addition, further levels of research require higher Academy levels. If you keep a low Stronghold build your Academy will not allow you to fully access Demigod Research.

When it comes to troops T1 troops are unlocked with demigod features. T2 require Academy 1110, T3 and T4 Demigods require even higher levels of your Academy.

Best Banners

Banner Stand

Banners have continued to update and we have several now to choose from. We have created several charts showing different banners based off of what stat you are looking for. Keep in mind, even if you are a defense player that attack is important to your setup as well.

Don’t forget!! You are able to combine banners. It requires 4 banners at the same level to combine to the next level. For example, if you have 4 level 3 banners you are able to combine those to get a level 4 banner. Once you have 4 level 4 banners you can combine them to get a level 5 Banner.

VIP

Demigod VIP is here, and it is the must-have item of the year. Prior to Demigod VIP, march size for Demigods was only limited by how many you could train. March sizes were so large, that without spending a ton, it was impossible to even fill a solo march. A player could literally send everything they had at you!

Because so many Demigods were being sent, we were hardly able to kill any of the march, and players could continue to send Demigods over and over, until you were zeroed, with hardly any cost to themselves. Demigod VIP provides a solution for this problem, as it limits the march size your attacker can send, and it is definitely needed if you want to be able to trap again.

Demigod VIP

VIP 1321

VIP has shifted over the past weeks so that your base VIP is no longer 1300 but 1310. Anything above 1310 is when you get into demigod levels. In essence everyone’s VIP is now 10 levels higher with no cost but this did not change things beyond the number. VIP 1321 is now here and this provides presets for your Valkyrie Hero. It also provides good stat increases all around.

Game of War VIP 1321

VIP 1341

VIP has now increased to 1341. The stats in VIP are great and give a lot of help when defending and attacking. In addition, at VIP 1341 you are able to open Presets for your Sapphire Hero. The Sapphire Hero has brought some great stats to the game especially for players with at T5 and T6 setup. So these presets are a huge asset to players utilizing the Sapphire Hero.

VIPHowever, this is another feature where cost versus benefit needs to be explored. This feature will not come cheap, however, it is a very useful one if you are able to obtain it.

Avatars- More than Just Looks

Wondering where you’re missing stats that everyone else seems to have? It’s your Avatar. Now they are not only part of our identity in chat but provide stat increases. Although many of the old Avatar boosts are now irrelevant, there are new Avatars to help you on your quest for greatness!

So how does it work? What stats do they add? I’ll walk you through.

Steps to unlocking Avatar Boosts

  1. Open Chests in Items
  2. Go to My Items and Special
  3. Scroll down and click use to open Avatar
  4. Once you have all the Avatars for that collection
  5. Go to Avatar Collection
  6. Click Unlock and you’re ready to go!

Crafting Research Tree for Dragon Realm

$

0

After much anticipation, the Crafting Research Tree has finally been released for the Dragon Realm. The two biggest benefits to completing this research will be the ability to use the Fourth Slot for Special Gems, and an increase in the strength of all gear pieces.

What do I need to start and complete the Crafting Research?

The beginning portion of the research only requires that you have Tier 1 and Tier 2 resources, and that your Academy be Level 20 or above. Most player can complete the top portion without purchasing special crafting packs. However, for the second and third portions of the Crafting Tree, you will need both Crafting Research Scrolls and Gem Research Scrolls. The Gem Research Scrolls will unlock the fourth slot gems further down in the research.

Gear Stat Multipliers

The majority of the Crafting Tree is researching the Stat Multipliers for each gear piece. Multipliers increase the base stats of each piece of gear by a percentage. These greatly increase the strength of your gear as a set. You can see your multipliers by clicking Profile, then Boost, then scrolling down to Troop Boost. There are three levels to the gear multipliers, and each level requires your hero to be at a certain level.

  • Multiplier I : Hero Level 1-30
  • Multiplier II : Hero Level 31-40
  • Multiplier III : Hero Level 41-50

Gear Stat Multipliers in Crafting Research Tree:

Multipliers for Helm, Armor, Feet, Weapon, and Accessories

  • Level I : 40%
  • Level II : 50%
  • Level III : 60%

Production, Luck, and Speed

Since this is a crafting-based research tree, the Production, Luck, and Speed researches are only crafting-related.

  • Silver Production Increase: 100%
  • Bond Production Increase: 50%
  • Loot Tile Gathering Luck: 20%
  • Crafting Luck: 10%
  • Crafting Speed: 30%
  • Crafting Speed II: 70%

For those that do not know, Production Increase research will increase the output of the rural buildings. However, in this case, the Bond Production research will not start until you use a Production Change for the Villas. Once you switch production from Silver to Bonds, the Bond Production increase will begin and the Silver Production will end. Loot Tile Gathering Luck will increase the chances of receiving higher level materials from Loot Tiles, and Crafting Luck gives you a better chance at getting the highest possible level for the gear piece you are crafting. Crafting Speed reduces the amount of time and the amount of speed ups you need to craft the gear.

Special Gem Slots

Those of us that have played GoW for a while have been waiting to finally be able to put special gems in our gear. The research in the bottom portion of the Crafting Tree opens the Fourth Slot, which is only for Special Gems. These Gems are usually higher in stats than any of the first three gem slots. Each gear piece has a specific research tile for the corresponding Special Gem Slot. Don’t forget, these are the researches that will require both the Crafting Research Scroll and the Gem Research Scrolls.

This Crafting Tree is very important for any player, no matter if you are burning strongholds or capping heroes. Let us know about your favorite piece of crafted gear in the comments below!

Game of War Wisdom

Game of War boasts a wide variety of people, and they are certainly a fun crew, to say the least. Over the years that the RealTips website has existed, we have had the opportunity to see perspectives from many players of all types. Quotes from these players have been collected in various articles, giving inspiration to many players.

As a community, we get to laugh together and have fun together. Here, we will be bringing back some of our favorite quotes from Game of War players that have great insight and great advice. Some of these quotes will be more familiar, as they are from some of our most recent Player Spotlights; however, others will be older and maybe not quite as familiar.

Quotes

We have some quotes from some of the players who have taken time in the past to sit down with the RealTips Team. We went back and pulled some of our favorite quotes from some of our favorite players.

Stayalive

Stayalive is a name that is well-known throughout the Game of War Community. He was one of the original greats! We loved some of the quotes from him, so we pulled some for you. If you want to read the full interview with him, you can do so here:

Interview with Stayalive77

Stayalive even in his day had his own reasons for playing.

“At the end of the day, I’m working. I need something to have fun. People don’t know me. They don’t know what charity I do or what things I do for other people in real life. I treat the game like real life, I don’t bad mouth, I don’t curse.”

He also had his own advice for different players.

“Always believe in yourself… It’s a virtual life, but it has a lot of sides from our real life. Show respect to the people. Get as much as you can from others as friends.”

Ctesse

Ctesse is a well-known name in Game of War. From past to present, if you do not know who Ctesse is, then I have one question for you: What Game of War rock have you been hiding under? If you would like to read the full interview with Ctesse, we have provided the link below.

Interview with Ctesse

Ctesse had her own thoughts on about everything, even traps and the thought of being Emperor.

I’m not that interested in becoming the Emperor. I’m more interested in zeroing players. I find it even more challenging than the SW because the traps these days are very hard to beat. I find them even more challenging, especially with the progress of cores and defensive gear.

I hate those goddamn traps… I can be 800 billion, but a 1.5 billion trap can take my hero! Traps deserve a lot more compliments, it takes a lot of skill.

Ctesse’s thoughts on Super Wonder and the talk that goes on afterward.

At the end of the day, it’s just a game and I have fun every Super Wonder. I enjoy the Super Wonder a lot but I don’t enjoy the smack talking. After football games, or basketball games, both sides shake hands, have a drink and they don’t talk trash to each other. These games are all about teamwork and sportsmanship, but that doesn’t happen in Game of War for some reason.

Ctesse’s thoughts on team:

Everything is equal when you fight in the Wonder or Super Wonder (for example same core recipes) except for YOUR TEAM. It’s the only thing that separates you from your competitors. Fillers and blockers are just as important as the person going for emperor.”

School Bus

School Bus is another renowned name in Game of War History. Known for his record number of kills at the time he played, he was greatly loved by those who called him friend. We have found quotes from him that we think are gems.

Interview with School Bus

School Bus had his own perspective about how he became a great player.

I’m fearless, I don’t care about losing my hero. I don’t care about anything. I know my core limit, and target gear limit. I know how to choose my target.

We even have some great quotes from some of School Bus’s team.

“When School Bus hits you, it’s because you didn’t look both ways when crossing the street. He’s been teaching us safety since he entered the Game of War scene.”

~Cynical Fun

Great Game of War Wisdom from Current Players

We have done some more recent interviews with current players as well, and they have some great advice and thoughts too.

Rogueness

Our interview with Rogueness gave some great advice to players. To read the full article, follow the link below.

Rogueness

“Don’t chase the carrot – play within your means.  It’s easy to get caught up and spend more than what you have….don’t do it.  Also, remember that there are real people behind the account.  Trash-talking is fun at times, but be a decent human being.  We all play this game to escape something in our lives -some have stuff worse than others going on.  There are some lines that shouldn’t be crossed.”

Cheminem

Another more recent player who had some great advice for players was Cheminem. Check out the full article on him, too! He had some great insights, and we wish we could share them all with you here.

The Tiny Fighting Trap

“This has always worked well for me:

1. Set a goal on how you want to play and focus only on that. Right now, I focus on three things…soloing players, taking solos and playing small so I built the account to do those things. Currently, debuffs and high mythic count work very well.

2. Buy the packs that help you achieve your playstyle goal. Right now, most of the drops don’t help or improve the account enough to justify spending. Currently, I’m waiting for the pick-your-own ultimate helm pack. Then I’ll spend.

3. Always maximize everything in your account, even if it’s small and seems meaningless. All the little stuff adds up. Most accounts I’ve been on to help are always missing the little stuff -avatars not unlocked, gems not combined, gear not powered up, etc. As an example, I recently added a March preset that maximizes March size/speed and then adjusted my attack/defense preset without them to hit with the highest possible size I can, and also land the hit with maximum attack.

4. Take hits, hit people and test. Mathing stats, troops, etcetera is great, but at the end of the day, all of that is just on paper. The more you hit and get hit, the better you’ll be able to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Testing is great and burning for science helps a ton. Last month, my defense felt off so we did another control test and found that MZ had changed mythic attack. I also had changed my monster and a friend figured out that their stats apply to defenders.

5. Listen to other players and learn. The line rooms are such a great resource and you’ll also make some friends…..Vladtepes and DemaBoost taught me how to solo. Ctesse taught me how to counter rally and play the wonder, the players from real tips/mickey room taught me how trap, Carol showed us all how to get set bonus, Cinder taught me how to heroless trap. All those players may not have realized it, but I learned a ton from watching them all play, reading reports, line rooms and applying what I learned to my account.

6. Have fun. When the game isn’t fun, broken or friends quit, I retire for the 66367th time😂”

WolfofOne001

Wolf had some great advice for players too! We know that his Player Spotlight just came out recently, but in our opinion, his advice is worth reiterating. If you did miss his spotlight, be sure to check it out.

WolfofOne001

It is a game, not a reality or a reflection on who you are.

Say what you want in Kingdom Chat but be very careful what you say in Alliance Chat.

Do not talk like a 13 year old who discovered pornography.

Be a team player by filling, offering real advice and supporting everyone who plays with you.

Try to reach out opponents by congratulating them on their success or suggesting what they can do better next time. We all need to learn.

Laugh at every chance or else you will lose your sense of reality!

I have seen players literally commit social suicide in the game which is quite sad. Drunken or chemically induced talk may seem like bravado but ultimately, you will regret it and have to leave the game in disgrace.

Finally, no game takes the place of real life responsibilities.

So many players in Game of War have left great legacies and have given great advice. We enjoyed reflecting on this, and hope you did as well. There are so many more great thoughts from Game of War players out there that we weren’t able to include here. Be sure to comment with some of your favorite thoughts!

Back to Basics: Attacking in Dragon Realm

$
0
0

If you ask around, almost everyone will tell you that they have been playing Game of War “for a few years.” Or better yet, a lot of players claim to be “old school” GoW players. But if you pay attention, these same players are the first ones to ask, “Why send a siege solo first?” or, “Why am I only killing traps?”

The Dragon Realm has brought us back all the way to the beginning of GoW time, and while there are a few new twists, the majority of the basics are the same. The middle years of GoW spoiled everyone with VIP presets, VIP fill, and of course the one-hit zeroes. So much about the basic gameplay was lost. So, for anyone that missed the simplicity of the first years, and for anyone that needs refreshing, we will walk through the basics of attacking for the Dragon Realm.

Are You Ready to Attack ?

The most important part of being ready to start hitting other players is the foundation with which you have built your city, RESEARCH. The more research a player has, the stronger the attack will be. Also, it gives you the opportunity to burn players that may seem bigger than you. A stronghold 20 with max research will undoubtedly hit harder than a stronghold 25 with bare-bones research. Once your research is adequate, you want to check a few other things in your city before you begin to look for a target.

  • Hero: You want to check your hero and make sure he or she is prepared. Make sure the Gear, Gems, and Skills all have the highest attack stats. If you are using one troop type, then make sure you have those type-specific hero skills filled in, and type Gems in your gear.
  • Troops: Knowing the “Circle of Death” is an essential part of the game. CRIC: Calvary > Ranged > Infantry > Calvary.  You need to know this so you know what to send in an attack. (Also, not many will remember, but siege was originally made to break through wall traps!)  You also want to make sure you have enough troops for two things. First, you want enough troops in your city so that you don’t burn if you are attacked while your hero is out on a march. Secondly, you want enough troops to fill your march. So, if you are going to be rallying or soloing for a few hours, you will need at least ten times the size of one march. You don’t want to have to stop and retrain troops between each hit.
  • Boost: Check to see if you have March Size Boost, Attack Boost, or Health Boost, and hopefully Debuff Boost will be released at some point! Anything you can use to make your march bigger or troops stronger should be used.

Finding A Target

Knowing your limits is something you will learn mostly from trial and error. The more cities you start attacking, the more you will come to understand what you can or cannot burn. However, there are a few things that can help you along the way.

  • Size up your enemies. If you know that you need a SH 20 to open T3 troops, then you know any stronghold smaller than that will only have T1 and T2 troops. Also, check their profiles. Have they won more than they have lost? Are their kills low or high? Check out their Hero — does it have a full set of high-level gear? What’s the hero level? These kinds of questions, when answered, will give you a good idea of your opponent’s strength.
  • SCOUT, SCOUT, SCOUT: This is something all good players do. Why go blindly into battle when you can take a peek and see what you are up against?? Once you scout, you can then form a battle plan as to what troops to send, if you need to rally or solo, and whether to use siege.

Other Tidbits about Attacking

  • Always check battle reports once you have attacked someone. This will let you know when you should switch troop types, how many troops the enemy has left, how many of your troops were lost, etc. Clicking the Battle Details at the top of the report will open the “second page,” or “back page” as some call it. This is where you will find the specific breakdown of which troops were killed.
  • As of right now, your Dragon should NOT be included in attacks. This is because the HP lost is counted as kills. So losing 7k HP on the dragon will count as 7k kills on the report. Most attackers will send the dragon to a nearby resource tile to hang out.
  • You got a report that says GLORIOUS VICTORY!! Now what? This has been a source of confusion lately. The only way you can capture (cap) a hero is if the city you hit is a SH 15 or above. Once you have a hero in your city, you can click on the prison to view the timer. It’s usually around three days. Once the timer is up, the hero will escape or you can choose to execute. The hero will only be able to be executed if the ENEMY city is a SH 20 or higher.  While you have the hero in your prison, you can check out its gear and hero skills.

Welcome to the Dragon War Dimension. Or, as many call it, Downstairs, Toothless, Dragonville and more! Players have been having some fun in this dimension and it has brought a new level of strategy to the playing field.

The “Toothless” Dimension is a favorite for many players as it reminds us of old school Game of War. Along with it, we have so many possibilities when it comes to trapping. Today, we will be covering trapping in Dragonville and some of the basics regarding trapping. Many players have frequently asked questions when it comes to trapping and we will aim to cover all of those here.

Trapping 101

Welcome to Trapping 101. For a long time trapping has been unique, and a long time ago power became irrelevant to some degree in trapping. However, it is relevant when it comes to trapping in the Dragon Dimension. So there are some basic things you need to know before you start building in this realm.

  1. Power is relevant in the world of trapping again, so there are some basic things you will want to watch that will give you a lot of power when you are trying to stay low power.
    1. Hero Level – Hero Levels give a lot of power: at level 40, your total hero power will equal 2.03 million.
    2. Empire Quests – Collecting Empire Quests will give a ton of power. Before you know it, you can have millions in power just from quests. So while at times the rewards can be tempting, this is something you will want to be cautious about.
    3. Research – Carefully plan out what research you want and need to complete. Research gives added power, so if it is not necessary, do not do it.
Cinder’s Research Tip: Rewards Research does not give any added power.
    4. Buildings – Buildings are another thing that add power, so be wise with building levels and outer buildings. If you can’t produce enough for it to be worth it anyway, then there really is no need to have 20 farms, and they will just increase your power.
    5. Watch your Hospitals – If you want to use hospitals in your build, keep a close eye on them. At level 20, a hospital will give 20-million-plus Hero XP. This will jump your hero level quickly, and cause an increase in power. If you want to use hospitals in your build, consider keeping them lower then level 20.
  2. Know how you want to trap.
    1. Low-level trap – This is a trap that is a low level with low research and power, but high troop levels. This level trap will not be able to fight off high-level attackers, but is a good point scorer when being hit by low level attackers during KvK events.
    2. High-level trap – This is a trap that wants to build to cap the big kids. They will build until they are able to take on the max players of the Dragon World.
    3. Solo Trap – Do you want to take only solos and run from rallies? This will enable you to remain at a lower level; however, be cautious of being caught away with your shield down when a rally hits.
    4. Rally Trap – Rally traps can take solos and rallies. These will be larger accounts and may not get as many hits, but rally trapping is always exciting!
    5. Get Creative – These are some of the more common ways to trap, but don’t be scared to get creative! The sky is the limit, and if it works, there is nothing wrong with it.
  3. Know what stats you need and where you will need to get them from.

The Science of Trapping

Trapping involves some science, as we like to call it. There are some basic stats that you will need to focus in on in the Dragon Realm, and many of these are similar to stats we have previously seen in Game of War. Each stat has its own unique role in trapping, and there is a science to building in a manner that works for you.

Common Trap Problems and How to Fix Them

Problem: I can kill off my attacker’s march, but I am still burning and losing.

Solution: Look at your Defense stats and Health stats. When looking at stats in trapping, Defense will help you to be able to lose fewer troops and win. There are a few places you can get Defense, including Research, Gear (Sentinel’s Gear is a good place to look), Gems, and Villas (Level 10 and up). Health stats can be found in Research, Hero, Gear, and Gems. If you are struggling to find more defense stats then look into adding more troops.

Problem: I win, but I cannot cap my attacker’s Hero.

Solution: In this case, you are struggling to kill off your attacker’s march. You need more Attack Stats. Attack is what helps your troops kill off your attacker’s march. So while many traps just focus on defense, this will leave you lacking. Some of the places to find Attack in the game are Research, Gear (check our Arbiter’s Gear), Gems, and Hero Abilities. Once again, if you can’t add more attack, consider adding more troops.

Problem: What troops should I use?

Solution: Unfortunately, there is a myth out there that certain troops tiers are inherently bad and T2 will send you up in flames like kindling. This is not the case. While that does not mean you should go out there and spam-build T1 traps, it does open up the board for discussion when it comes to this. We will explore troops more below.

Troop Science

We had some help from our friend Cheminem, who compiled the following information! We thank him so much for the time and effort he put into testing to help benefit the community.

Chem took some time to test the different troops. Since we are going to do a little science, we will look at this like a science experiment.

Purpose: To see the differences using different Troop tiers for defense.

Hypothesis: Different Troops will react differently based on their tier to an attack.
Method: In order to control the results of the test, the troop power remained the same for each test. Each defense used 70k power’s worth of troops for each tier. Troops were put in an encampment, and then attacked to see how they would react to each individual attack.

Results:

TestingDiscussion: You can see from the chart above that with each Tier there were differences. For example, switching from T1 to T2 meat reduced losses by a significant amount. In addition, the number of kills went up significantly as troop tiers increased. This means that if you have two traps and both are identical in power, but one is all T1 and one is all T2, the T2 trap will kill even more of the attacker’s march. This information will become more and more significant as players open more troop tiers. Looking at this data, what tier troop would you choose to use?

What does this mean in Non-Chem Geek Speak? There are different factors that we will need to look at here, but if you look at it from a purely mathematical perspective, it makes sense to use the highest tier you have. However, looking at trapping as an art will make us question this, as players with a higher level account may get a reduced number of hits. While you can use lower tiers, you will have to amass more of these to be able to be more effective. It is clear that as troop tier increases, you can kill more of your attacker’s march and reduce your own losses.

Dragon Science

Unfortunately, there is currently not a lot of science concerning the Dragon. Currently, your best bet as a trap is to get your Dragon out of the way. Whether that means you ghost rally it or send it to raze an inactive account, you do not want to take hits with your Dragon home. If you have not yet hatched your Dragon, I would recommend not doing so.

Example Set-Ups

As mentioned previously, there are different setups you can use when building your trap. Below, we will give some examples of successful setups. Thank you to those provided me with reports and information surrounding their setup!!

Setup 1

This is actually my own setup. My account is a SH 10 with low research and high troop count. I have focused on a combination of defense and attack stats. My account is built to be hit by solos coming from small attackers, and is quite effective in taking these hits. However, being a small T2 trap, it is not very effective against larger attackers and will burn quite freely to a T4 hit. Here is an example of a successful defense.

Dragon Trapping

Setup 2

The next setup belongs to HungryStick from D:V. He is SH 20 with high research and troop power. As he is well-known in his kingdom, he does not get many hits there, but he does well in KvK events. He uses T3 to defend and can successfully defend against larger attackers.

HungryStick D:V

Setup 3

Our final example setup is from FinsUp in D:V. He has been building to be able to take rallies from large players. He is running a mix of T2 and T3 troops. He gave us some of his reports and we pulled one where he was soloed by a max player.

FinsUpWrapping it Up

Trapping is something very unique to the individual. Being able to take a hit and successfully defend is not always easy but when you are able to be successful it is a blast. Trapping is a bond that many Game of War players share in our sub-community. We have shared some of the science behind it here today, but there are so many more avenues to explore in trapping in the Dragon Realm. What is your favorite part of trapping? Comment below!

Opening the Game of War Time Capsule

Sometimes it happens unexpectedly, sometimes we know it may be coming. The anxiety, the adrenaline, the worry, the excitement, its all a part of the game. All of us have that one time we won’t forget: the first time we were burned in Game of War, or the first time we lit someone else up. Today we open the Game of War Time Capsule and hear from players about their memories of fire — their most memorable burns.

First Time Being Zeroed

For a lot of us, the first time we were burned, it also came with a complete zeroing. Maybe we forgot to shield, maybe we didn’t anticipate such a big drop.

For myself, I remember filling rallies in (LV) in k894. A new potion had just dropped with massive amounts of DD, and I had not noticed the blog when I logged in. I was filling rallies with my trap when a rally was set on me by Heartquake from D:V. I wasn’t worried, I had capped Heart a million times before.

As the rally launced it dawned on me. Heart knew I capped him easily, so why was he rallying me now? Realization sank in, as I looked and saw a new blog was posted, and then the rally landed. My little trap exploded and those dreaded words popped up on screen… “Your hero has been imprisoned.” Not only did he light me up, but he zeroed me in ONE SHOT!!!!! That wasn’t something that I was used to, nor was my alliance used to seeing me in flames either.

Luckily, I had already formed friendships with D:V by that point, and as soon as I was shielded, my hero was returned safe and sound. But that burn would stick with me forever.

I was tiny, I decided to port in a KE and kill monsters. A pal convinced me into hitting some inactives, for “practice.” I dropped shield, sent my hero and some T1s to go kick some butt. Out of nowhere my screen turned red. It never happened before, and I panicked! I started recalling troops, speeding in so I could hopefully pop my blanket back on. It was all over before I knew it. My city was burning, my hero was gone, and my ego was bummed!

-SweetnSasi

I was walking my dog and I realized my peace shield may drop. I thought no one will burn me early in the morning – WRONG! toasted and capped on one hit.

-WolfOfOne001

…Faced with completing an empire quest to burn x number of cities, I set out on a mission. I ported, bunkered, and waited for quiet. Burned 1, whoo-hoo, burned 2, 3, 4, I’m having a blast! The game is finally fun! By the time I am on the ninth one, some squealer had called on a Big to help.  He zeroed me in one hit. Wham! Massive loss. Hero captured. I asked for advice. He returned my hero and left me with parting words of wisdom, “Don’t linger!”

-Mica

Gaining Allies From Being Burned

Sometimes when we get burned, we message the other player. “How did you do that?” “What in the world just happened?” “Can you try hitting me again?” and of course, “Can I please have my hero back?” These messages can end up becoming long conversations, and thus leading to friends and allies.

A couple years ago I fell asleep researching and in research gear, of course. Woke to my phone blowing up and getting rallied multiple times. I switched to Defense gear and capped rally leader. They tried to rescue and i capped another, They gave me congrats and took their hemlock. I stayed in touch with them and a couple months later, as my alliance began to fade, i joined their alliance. Years later, i am still friends with some, which led to us going to dragon realm together. Just goes to show, don’t be a jerk to those that rally you. Yesterday’s foes can become today’s friends

-SamVines

StangRacer lit me up like a Christmas tree while I was attacking a SH in monster gear. NIC took me into their small alliance and taught me how to play the game, or else he’d still be whipping my butt!

-WarGods7

The most memorable time I got burned was the first time I got zeroed. I was on vacation, and lost my phone so I couldn’t renew my shield. When I finally was able to log in, I was actually surprised to see how long it took to zero me and get my hero. I had several messages from the team that rallied me about how well I did. I talked with them and thanked them, and my team then became allies with them, so it worked out well.

-APHR0DITE

Don’t Drink and GoW

Then of course there are the times when we (adults over the age of 21) mix Game of War with drinking. Most of these nights have not ended up well, for me at least

I was passed out drunk the first time i burned

-JustGin

My first time getting zeroed, I was passed out from drinking moonshine. My alliance kicked me and saved my hero though. Don’t drink and GoW, you forget your seatbelt every time!

-StaticScream

#TeamRealTips does not recommend drinking and GoWing, as there is a direct correlation between the more you drink and the more you burn.  😉

Burn and Learn

Although many would say that burning is not a good thing at all, sometimes we can learn about strategy, or it can lead us to do things in the game we would have never done otherwise.

It was done by a guy named named Reaper, who happened to be on StayAlive’s SW team at the time. I vowed to become bigger so I wouldn’t burn anymore, I was 23 million power at the time. Reaper later became a good friend and introduced me to D:V and the SW team. I went to my first SW with D:V and StayAlive, filling his rallies. Never would have happened if I had not burned early in my gaming experience

-BadJudge

Most of the time that I burned it was small, expected, and positive for points. But one KE, the lag in game was so bad and FlamingMo rallied me. I would have been ok except his team had learned how to use lag to their advantage. They sent an amazing combination of scouts and one troop marches at me, followed by the hit from the big player. I couldn’t do anything but watch a flashing red screen as I got zeroed and capped. I was amazed at their coordination!

-Chilllz

Revenge can be a Big Motivator

Ever get burned and you SWORE that one day you would come back bigger and better? Don’t worry, because you aren’t the only one.

I was just starting the game and directly got hooked. But I was a noob for at least one month. So there I went into the dark woods of the forest, and a much bigger guy came and burned me out of the forest. I had no idea what was going on. After that, I bought a lot of packs and got so huge without even knowing what troop setup meant. I was lucky that I didn’t nerf myself!! Later I learned all about ratios, nerf, etc. So I used the highest tiers only while I was playing a maxed lead, and wonder account for about six months. The rest everyone knows, I became a legendary SH 60 account.

-LifeIsATest

The first time I burned was on my third day playing. I had been in game for three days but had not played yet, so I decided to get on and learn how to play. While I was trying to figure things out, I saw a red screen and had no idea what it meant. Luckily, I had a friend with me that played before, and he told me I was being attacked. Then, he showed me how to go to kingdom view and see who hit me, and how to join an alliance. From then on, that person that attacked me was on my List. So, when I was big enough, he was also the first person I found and I burned.

-TechXena

Our first time burning in Game of War is something most of us will never forget. Whether it was a complete zero, something we learned from, or our motivation to become the big player that came back to burn their nemesis. No matter what, we all have lived to tell the tale and survived to play again.

Thanks for opening the first of many Game of War Time Capsules with us!! What was your most memorable burn? Leave a comment below and help ease the pain with the rest of the RealTips Community.

Also, keep up with our GoWRealTips Line room! We will be asking for memories about the next Game of War Time Capsule, and maybe next time we will use your favorite memory!

The People You Meet in Game of War Social Media

We have met many people within the Game of War Community and had some fun exploring who these people are in previous installments of our People You Meet series. However, we don’t just meet them in the game — we also see them on social media. Game of War has a vibrant playerbase that thrives in outside communities such as Discord, the Line app, and Facebook.

Therefore, for our next rendition of The People You Meet, we will take a look at the People You Meet in Game of War Social Media. If you missed our previous installments of The People you Meet, make sure you go back and give them a read. They are sure to send you into fits of giggles.

The People You Meet, Part 1

The People You Meet, Part 2

The Lurker… Kinda

You will meet the lurker in every room. They pop their head out on occasion and say a few words, but typically they are the ones that read the room and do not talk. Many times when you call out the lurkers, they will pop their head out and explain why they are lurking, and then go right back to lurking. There is nothing inherently wrong with this type of person, and I myself am guilty of lurking at times. However, we aren’t mean and we like you, so come out and play more often!

Lurker

The Attention-Seeker

This person is the one that is constantly talking in rooms. Posting information and in more informal rooms pictures of their children, their meals… well, pretty much anything they do all day long. They hope to be validated through an online community and will constantly check back in to see if someone has commented on or liked their post. Once again, there is not anything inherently wrong with this type of personality, but it can become a problem quickly. If I could give you one piece of advice it would be… BREATHE!

Attention Seeker

The Warner-Awayer

Yeah, I am not sure if those are real words… but it is the best way to describe this person. I’m sure you all know this person, but if you doubt it, let me give you a little more clarification. This person used to play Game of War. They no longer play, but they continue to lurk in the rooms for one reason and one reason only. They are looking for an opening and if they get an opening, this is what they will say:

“If I can give you my advice? Quit NOW… MZ is nothing but money-hungry grubs and I refuse to give them any more of my money. This game ruined my life and I refuse to stop until everyone quits.”

Blah, Blah, Blah. Whatever words or phrasing they ues, it is always the same, and all I hear is blah, blah, blah. Get out the room if you hate the game so much!

Blah

The Critics

Everybody is a critic! Not really, but these people definitely exist in Game of War Social Media.  They are the ones that will search and search to find something wrong with what you just said and jump all over it like white on rice. This can be a frustrating personality to deal with, as it can go one of two ways. Either their criticism pushes you to prove them wrong or to go back at a problem and find a way to do it better, or it puts you in a place of darkness.

A little constructive criticism can go a long way, but be cautious not to tear each other down in the process. Criticism can either help us improve or discourage us, and a large part of that is how it is given. We have seen this often from the Simon Cowells to the Gordon Ramseys of the World. However, let’s be honest: you can be the best at giving constructive criticism and there will still be people who do not know how to take it.

Critic

The Inactive

These people are there, but they do not read the room or interact –at all. I mean, even lurkers interact at times. The inactives are there and may occasionally clear messages but who knows why they are actually there or if they are even still out there somewhere. However, seriously look at Game of War Line Rooms many times the room number is nearing 500 however, out of those 500 people maybe 20 people make up a majority of the conversation.

The best thing is when an inactive user decides to leave a room, and they post their farewell and see their way out the door. This leaves all active users scratching their head wondering who in the world that person was.

Inactive

The Couple

Okay, once again, let’s be honest. We all know that Game of War couples exist. Spending so much time as a community, this is bound to happen. There are five years of history between some of the players, and actual successful real-life relationships have come out of these couplings.

However, there is always that one Game of War Couple. Everyone knows they are a couple because of the excessive amount of chat PDA. Sweetie, if you want to tell him that you will call him soon or tell him about your day, they invented something called Private Messages… please learn how to use it. And we really do not want to hear you call her Honey Boo-Boo 20 million times. This is when the gag emojis start populating chat.

PDA

The Room Geek

I actually love the Nerds and Geeks of Game of War. These are the people that get into all of the mathematics and science behind the game. They are some of the best players, but at times they are too smart for their own good.

These are the people in the room who are throwing out abbreviations and numbers and mathematical stuff and leave the rest of the room (especially the newbs) feeling like they just witnessed a conversation in a different language. Sometimes the Geeks and Nerds of the rooms need a translator — thought, if you ask them nicely, they may translate for you!

Geek

The Room Clown

Oh my, I do not even know where to start with this one. The room clown, much like a class clown, can be a lot of fun. This is the jokester of the room who always has a funny meme or a smart-aleck comment to make in response to just about everything. They enjoy stretching their comedic flair, but unfortunately at times they can take it a little too far.

While this person can be a lot of fun, if it goes too far it can quickly go from funny to troll, and then no one is happy.

Clown

The Room Police

Guilty as charged! These are our room monitors. The people who make sure that the room is running smoothly and all individuals within are abiding by the rules set forth. Believe me, this is not always an easy role, and it is very easy to anger people when you tell them their meme is unwelcome in the room. However, this is a role that needs to be fulfilled in order to be sure that the community has places they can go to get information and not be overrun by off-topic chatter (there are rooms for that).

Room Police

The Info Provider

Guilty as charged (again)! These people are there to provide information for Game of War players of all types. They seek validation through chat in some form, in that they want to be recognized as a credible source of information. However, while some people give great advice (we at Realtips like to count ourselves among that population), others should not be giving game advice.

There have been times where I have found myself going, WHAT?, upon seeing advice given within chat. While there are many knowledgeable players out there be cautious about who you take advice from and do not build your accounts on glitches!

Advice Meme

That’s all for today! There are so many personalities in the Game of War Community, whether you find them in-game or on social media. We have fun interacting with all of you in both places. If you are not already in our social media rooms, you should definitely be sure to join us for great conversation and strategy tips on the go.

Line App – Add thatcinder and ask for an invite to the Game of War Realtips Room.

Did we miss any personalities? Be sure to let us know some of your favorite personalities you meet in the Game of War Social Media Rooms! Comment below and if we get enough maybe we will revisit for yet another People You Meet!
