ARES vs. HEPHAESTUS SHOWDOWN

God vs. God Event

The thunder rolled and the earth shook as Ares and Hephaestus prepared for battle. Players were forced to choose a side in the upcoming battle. The gods blessed their team with great events to help them to achieve glorious victory.  The week ended with a massive KE as the two teams faced off in Kingdom 1118.

The Battle

Players searched the map for strongholds of various levels. Each stronghold was reinforced with troops infused with the power of the gods. The gods gave orders on which troops to kill. Team Ares instructed his generals to kill Firelord and Waterlord troops, with promises of massive rewards. Hephaestus offered the same bounty to his generals for the death of Thunderlord and Waterlord troops. With this event, players had to be very strategic in selecting targets. The larger the stronghold, the more enemy troops awaited the assault. Players loved the strategy aspect of this event. Chats were full of conversations about what troops to send to successfully defeat these accounts.

Team TroopsThe Event

As with prior events, players were provided with teleports for free in their mail, lasting one hour each, allowing everyone to participate! Tier 3 was easily accomplished, and unlocked a secret Tier 4, which wasn’t as easily attained. As a trap with T2 troops and traps, I ported in at the very start of the event and targeted low level SH. I was able to hit Tier 3 of the event within 5 minutes of landing. That being said, it was costly in terms of rebuilding traps lost attacking. As a more conservative approach, I later joined rallies set by the larger attack accounts to diminish my losses. While this resulted in a slower accumulation of event points, it was less expensive for me.

The InfernoAlso included in this event were mini-events that involved stacking strongholds and camps in certain formations in order to attain prizes. We had previously seen this type of quest in the Valentine’s Day event. These events required teamwork with your alliance planning the right formation to complete the trial. Athena’s mail was somewhat vague on the exact details to complete the formations correctly, causing a good amount of trial and error to get it right. Completing these trials gave gifts of Platinum, Consort of Chaos Tokens and Demigod Reward Research Tokens!

The God vs. God event allowed for gameplay to all players at all levels. There was something for everyone, from hitting event strongholds to competing for the Wonder. Now, with a new event out, we are wondering what type of battle we will see next!

Game of War Remember When

Game of War Remember WhenIt’s 3am…you rub your eyes and chug your 7th cup of coffee. Your spouse wanders downstairs and glares at you, staring glassy-eyed into your phone. Do you give in and go to bed for some snuggle time? Nope; you’re 10 hours into a kill event on Game of War. There’s no sleep in KVK! Many of us have similar memories from our time with GOW over the years.

You might be a Game of War Addict if you…

  • Stayed up for 3 days straight to play Super Wonder. (Bonus points if you snored and peed on coms)
  • Manually opened 90k chests before VIP allowed open all.
  • Paid your children to open them instead
  • Spent hours combining in the forge and risked a 40% gold – then crafted blue instead, and cried into your beer
  • Navigated old locked realm politics: Only top 3 may farm in the forest! Wonder rotation!
  • Squatted in help and behemoth alliances
  • Remember the time before hemlock was a thing. (Yes, you waited 3 days or begged your hero free with gifts and funny stories.)
  • Experienced the anticipation over a new cores set, especially to see what customs you could create
  • Fought over monsters to try and get rare core mats and cores
  • Paid your buddy in gifts for their Odin dig sites to try and get more RavensEye pendants for your customs
  • Nailed the timing on a Counter Rally – That glorious feeling of watching your mortal enemy burn on impact as they tried to zero your alliance mate.
  • Agonized over if the lead you were trying to counter rally really had their hero in the march or if they were trying to trick you (before battle marking was a thing)
  • Swapped gems out between hits to adjust to the defenders gear
  • Dealt with five-minute rallies – (just enough time to make a sammich!)Game of War Remember When
  • Yelled, “C! C! DIDN’T YOU SEE ME SAY CORE!!!” in ac
  • Got wild in prison parties – don’t read too much into this one 🙄
  • Joined the enemy alliance to trade RSS to save said heroes from the prison party
  • Got online the first day ancient ports became a thing and you ventured forth into a new world
  • Participated in Burn squads
  • Remember when everyone ported to one kingdom for a juicy target, while the rest of the game watched from their home kingdom. (Never sleep in blacksmith, k?)
  • Created notebook after notebook/chart after chart of custom cores
  • Popped those custom cores by mistake and cried into your beer…again. (sensing a theme?)
  • Laughed maniacally as you wrecked someone with your super secret heroless cores…until SOMEONE published them on their website for the whole world to craft.
  • Know what Sling launching is
  • Stalked a target for hours, watching their helps and power to see if they were really asleep and
  • Tossed your phone across the room when said target swapped gear on your march and
  • Felt the satisfaction that came from zeroing his buddy because they didn’t wake up in time.
  • Chased a heroless target around the kingdom
  • Orbed for hours
  • Celebrated the great Athena’s gift glitch: free Zeus cores. Then, logging all your sleeping friend’s accounts to collect them. You get a Zeus, you get a Zeus, you all get a Zeus!
  • Participated in 4-hour long trapping burn downs – until you flickered out, got kicked and end up with a pig face. (But it was totally worth it)
  • Set the trap with Kunai, the defense gear that would never die.Game of War Kunai
  • Spent hours online discussing the best strategies for attacking or trapping
  • Have dozens of invisible friends that shared much more than Game Of War with you. Your GOW friends were one of the best support systems in the world.

I could go on for days. After four years, there are so many memories. Let’s hear yours in the comments below!

Game of War Real Tips

St. Patrick’s Day approaches and, for many, it is a day to share your best brogue and drink green libations… We wear green and celebrate the patron saint of Ireland in many ways. For our very own Game of War-style celebration we’re sharing the Luck of the Irish!

What’s your luckiest moment in GOW?

Check these out:

Cinder

As a bait trap, one of my favorite things to do was sit around in bad gear and wait. Sometimes I would “log out”, but my friends knew better; I was watching notifications. One day I caught a bite; a big player in my home kingdom found me in research gear and started soloing. The solos weren’t bad so I sat and waited. Now, keep in mind this was my early trapping days, and I was still inept at doing a good switch.

I was hoping for a rally, but soon realized that this player had been drinking.. Green libations likely… and was going to continue to solo away. Fortunately, he quickly fell into a pattern of checking gear and not checking gear and I was able to flip, realize I flipped too soon, flip back and then back again and cap. Even though I flipped too soon, my luck that day may have been attributed to… his green beverages.

Eagle

I don’t get lucky. I’m just that good. #eaglemagic

But in all honesty, my luckiest moment in Game of War was meeting all of you. The people make this game great. I consider myself lucky to have been able to serve the community for so long. #flyeaglefly#eaglemagic#trappingisawayoflife

AlyKat

Back in the day, there was a Coliseum event that did not allow any shielding. I took my cute little 6B health trap overloaded with t2 and gold, and started an epic burndown, spamming troops and instant healing. About 30 minutes in (19 rallies incoming along with tons of solos) my game locked up and the flicker started. I somehow managed to port and then my game shut down. I finally managed to reboot the game and was completely anticipating the pig face. To my surprise, I was chilling in the forest with 12 heroes, as they had hit just as my meat ran out. A huge silver bounty and a bunch of hate mail was my pot of gold.

How it Works:

  1. Amuse us with your story of your luckiest Game of War moment
    1. No profanity
    2. We reserve the right to delete any comments that are rude or in bad taste
  2. Teamrealtips will pick the best story as the winner and feature it!
  3. The winner will receive a $25 Gift Card to iTunes or Google Play, and we promise we won’t pinch you!
  4. Contest Deadline is Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 5PM PST
  5. Unfortunately, Canada and other countries may not qualify for reward.

The Bible speaks of a prodigal son. Though he was beloved, he was dissatisfied and wanted more. Assuming the world had more to offer, he set out on his own. However, as he learned, oftentimes there’s no place like home.

This probably sounds familiar to many of our returning warriors. You loved the game and the friends you made here, but thought you’d be better off without it. While the prodigal son was away, he realized all that he left behind and missed home. In spite of whatever challenges he would face, he chose to return the people and place that he remembered fondly.  Are you at that point? While you want to come back, so much time has passed. Everything has changed. Have no fear, old friends, Team Real Tips is here to welcome you with open arms and make your transition back as smooth as possible.

Let Real Tips be the first to welcome you back to Game of War! We missed you!

While you were away, the almighty demigods took the game by storm. The  Rise of the Demigods left us in pure awe at their power. We had so many questions! After a little time, players realized this was an amazing add to the game! Demigods returned Game of War to the game we love; in many ways, it is probably very much the game you remember. The strategy aspect has returned to the game and a flame has been reignited in the warriors of old.

To properly enjoy this release, you will need to know a few things. Team Real Tips is here to answer all your questions and guide you on your quest to return to GLORY!

What is a Demigod?

Demigods came and with them the face of Game of War changed. But, what are these awe-inspiring additions to GoW? Demigods have their own building levels, research, troops, creatures, traps, heroes…well, pretty much everything. Game of War has truly become “Game of Demigods” with this release. Old combat stats were rendered useless; this was a reset of the game.

Many have been very frustrated with this release. They state it made months or even years of spending irrelevant. However, I see it differently. Prior to Demigods, we had up to four releases a day, and with each release, stats were increased a drastic amount (making the previous day’s stats irrelevant). It didn’t matter if you were maxed 12 hours ago or even an hour ago because one drop was enough to one-hit zero you. With demigods, the releases slowed exponentially and the stat drops are no longer “game changers.” For more information about the changes with Demigods, check out our Return to Game of War Article.

What do I need to begin my Demigod Journey?

Here’s what you need in your first pack when joining the upgraded ranks of Demigod players:

  • Demigod Hero or Spartan Hero Unlock
  • Demigod Economic, Combat, and Defense Research Unlocks
  • Demigod Building Unlocks to level 1,100 or 1,101
  • Demigod RSS

That’s it, everything you need to start your journey. Even better news: recently, there was a $20 pack that provided all of these items!

The Demigod Starter Checklist

    1. Educate yourself on ALL things Demigod by checking out our other articles:
    2. Buy your pack
    3. Unlock Hero
    4. Decide on what buildings you want (Rise of the Demigods)
    5. Use your “Instant Upgrade” item for Buildings
    6. Unlock your Research
    7. Start that build!
    8. Before you start taking hits, you will want at least VIP 1301 to limit your attacker’s march
    9. Go out and be awesome like Cinder

FAQ

  1. Does Nerf still exist?
    Not thus far
  2. Can I play without Demigods?
You are welcome to try but if you unshield, one Demigod will kill all your troops, traps, and mythicals (read: no.)
  3. Is every release required?
No; while many of the releases are helpful and do increase stats, you are still able to play.
  4. What should I do with my old gear?
There are very few old gear sets that are still relevant. If you are planning on ever killing monsters, keep your monster gear. Prospector gear still helps with shielding Demigod RSS tiles, even though it does not help with speed. Keep your dungeon gear in case the dungeon ever opens again.
  5. What about other old stuff?
There is very little old stuff that still applies. It would appear some of the poison research is still applying so be sure that is still done. Also Athena’s banners, ancient ports, and hems are nice to have as they are not quite as easy to get anymore.
  6. Can I play without spending my life savings?
YES! For more tips and tricks about how to be sure to save check out our Budget Guide!

If you have any other questions feel free to post in comments! Cinder is awesome, and you can be too!

Spartan Hero (Demigod Hero)

We, of course, cannot discuss Demigods without a new hero with Demigod stats to protect our city. Upon the release of Demigods, we also received the Spartan Hero. This is our hero for everything Demigod.

This article will take a look at hero levels, skilling, and cost of leveling your Spartan Hero. We will also look at uses for old heroes.

Facts about your Spartan Hero:

  • Leveling your Spartan to 50 is easy once the hero is unlocked, as it requires only Hero XP
  • The Spartan Hero tree resembles the original hero tree from the beginning of the game
  • Spartan Hero Tree includes skills for:
    • Construction
    • Production
    • Research
    • Training
    • Food Upkeep
    • Demigod Combat Stats
  • The Spartan Hero after level 50 requires Spartan Hero Leveling Spears
  • The points given for skills are very limited and therefore must be used wisely

Hero Level

Let’s look at Hero levels from each side:

Attack and Wonder

As a lead player, you want your hero to be the highest level possible. Hero levels give great boosts in attack and health.

Defense

If your goal is just defense so that you are able to unshield, your hero should definitely be leveled as high as possible. However, many of us old school traps know that there used to be more strategy as to whether or not you level up your hero. We are left wondering if ,with Demigods, some of this strategy will return. For traps, hero level used to be key because if your hero level was too high, leads would not hit.

All of these need to be taken into account when choosing whether or not to level your hero:

  • Is the cost of this feature realistic for me?
  • Are the stats worth the possible decreased hits due to hero level?
  • If I choose not to level up, where else can I get stats that I am missing from hero levels?

Skilling of the Hero Tree

Skilling is no longer as simple as it was with previous heroes. We do not have massive amounts of skill points to allocate wherever we want and it is not cut and dry “start at the bottom and work your way up”. Your points need to be very well-planned.

Things to Consider when Skilling:

  1. In order to put just one point in the bottom skill, you must use 24 points
  2. Just because you unlock a box doesn’t mean you can max that skill; you must be a certain hero level to max the skill.
  3. Points are very limited (below, we will cover hero costs and points)
  4. Hero Presets do not open until VIP 1305
  5. Hero Preset items are very rare and difficult to get, which makes using this feature difficult

There are multiple factors to consider when skilling your hero. On the defense and attack side, skilling for attack will be very important. Here at Teamrealtips, we recommend skilling using a setup even the current Emperor, Huckster (73V) uses!

The theory with this skilling setup is that you provide max protection for your traps, which die first and max attack for traps because they are a huge factor. You want your points for trap defense and attack as high as possible and then use any leftover points in a troop attack slot. Attack is currently important for defense players as it allows them to kill more of their Attackers march.

The Other Heroes

WIth Demigods resetting the game, are all of those other heroes irrelevant? Mostly, but not completely. If you plan on hitting any monsters, your Demigod Hero has no skills for this so using your original hero is best for this function.

Bait traps! Toss your old hero on with old gear and swap that hero! With the expense of gear presets for those who love bait trapping, this brings a whole new level of strategy.

Hero Garrison

While the Hero Garrison is still in your city there is currently no demigod stats included here. Therefore, this is a feature you do not need to factor.

Equip Your Hero

Gear

Now that your trees are skilled, equip your hero with the best gear possible. For a list of the best gear, check out our Gear Guide.

With the massive update, your hero will need to be at the top of his game to survive. Do you have what it takes?

The Strategy that Won the Super Wonder

Game of War Super Wonder

Super Wonder, the ultimate Game of War Event.

Players spend countless hours preparing for a chance at the most prestigious title in the game: Emperor. Demigods have changed every aspect of the game, including Super Wonder. Recently, Super Wonders suffered dwindling attendance rates; however, with the Demigod Revolution, that trend is over. While many teams came to stake their claim, two teams towered above the rest.  Everyone brought their A-game and a true battle battle took place. The surprise? In the end, it was not the demigods that won the event but good, old-fashioned strategy.

Team 73V

Of course, I’ll tout the team that took first…first: Team 73V. For the first time, ever an alliance was able to dominate the event with no blocker teams. This team spent days and weeks preparing. They had in-depth discussions involving gems, gear, and the best setup. Team 73V recognized that to win, they needed support from other top players and worked to build those relationships. They consulted the experts at Teamrealtips and practiced on Wonders and events, preparing for anything. Well, almost anything. Going into Super Wonder, you can strategize and plan, but something always comes up to make all your preparations fly out the window. This time was no different, as one creature required huge adjustments in strategy. What we do know: Team 73V is on their way to building a dynasty with their win of the Mega Wonder and Super Wonder!

Game of War Super WonderStrength in Numbers

Team BU and Team No= worked together to attempt to defeat Team 73V. However, was their downfall too much teamwork? Team BU and No= fought together and were quite impressive, but in their strategy, they ended up sharing a lot of time. They may have unintentionally shot themselves in the foot by over-integrating their plan.

The Event

Super Wonder passed hands so many times and so quickly during this event it was enough to make your head spin. Tons of strategy and adjusting was needed, and all with a lack of sleep! It was a good thing Cinder came prepared with Gatorade and pep talks! Many hands went into making sure that each team could perform at their best and have what was needed! Team 73V recruited IamJoeShmoe to join for the event and dominated the event! Team No=  made a mid SW partnership with Team BU. All top alliances were there for jam-packed action!

The Strategy

Game of War MedusaHowever, the star of the show was an unlikely one. In the end, the strategy revolving around one creature would make or break this event! Many believe the demigods controlled the event, but it was a creature that dates back to Ancient Greece. She either graced you with her beauty or turned your troops to stone. We are, of course, talking about the controversial Medusa.

Medusa is a pre-demigod creature  and is easily killed, but it provided one huge advantage for wonder marches: SPEED!! For anyone that was watching, you would see marches slowly plodding their way to the Throne of Kings and other marches that would fly! What made the difference was Medusa!

This creature sped marches to the point that it was difficult to counteract a missile in order to adjust for the hit that was coming and SW was constantly changing hands, making it difficult to track hold times. Teams attempted to one-troop leads to death, preventing a Medusa in their enemy’s march, and buying time for the hold. However, Team 73V quickly developed a technique as sneaky as Medusa herself. They found that a lead did not have to send the Medusa, any alliance member could send it. This allowed 73V to keep everyone wondering who would deploy the Medusa.

Team 73V then switched to scouting the attacker to adjust what was in the wonder. This only worked for a short time. The limits imposed on march sizes for creatures and traps ended up making the traps and creatures insignificant in the battle for wonder. Because of this everything came down to what troops were being used. Adjusting for missiles and the troops being sent allowed for longer holds.

As Super Wonder neared the end, Team 73V brought out their Trump Card. For two hours, the wonder was held with one T4 demigod troop by Team 73V. The strategy: when players sent a march with Medusa, the one Medusa would be killed and then the T4 demi troop, resulting in a draw allowing the team to continue holding Super Wonder.

Two formidable opponents made strategy necessary. Everyone put up a good fight, but Team 73V out-strategized all! With quick thinking and teamwork, they racked up the most time in Super Wonder and walked away with an impressive win!

The Duel

It would seem that Team 73V and Team No= are building a rivalry worthy of the gods themselves. These two alliances are at odds constantly in the past few events! Both are determined to build a dynasty and they have the determination and skill to do so but in the end, only one — not the alliance — will win.

Game of War will go into the history books as one of the best mobile games ever. What sets the game apart from the masses as truly great? TeamRealTips credits the legendary players with driving much of the success of the game. A wise man once said, “Heroes get remembered but legends never die”. We have gathered a collection of memories from the games greatest legends. May their memories and deeds encourage us all to become #legendary, too.

“The best memories I have of playing GOW are always the Super Wonder events. This was the time to get together with lots of friends throughout the game and laugh and play and stay up long hours. For some reason, my very professorial voice always made the others on the group chat giggle. One of their favorite activities was to make this very sweet innocent little old lady grandmother (uhhh) read definitions from the urban dictionary. They would find words or phrases and tell me to look them up and read them back. So if you can imagine me reading definitions of such glorious terms as ‘clam slamming’ in my very quiet ,modulated professor voice, you can see why they laughed.”

(YOLO) DeathByAJ

“This was July 31st, 2015, back before Tess started ONE and after the days of Kuran. Customs were the s#$%, and no set bonus or recipes existed back then. I always used to use purple piece sets because the cost-versus-benefit ratio of level six pieces in sets wasn’t worth it except to “free a homie”.

This was when people would go to coliseum for the events and weren’t ready for off-screen rallies using Hermes. One of the most memorable moments was when we decided to rally Hayden at 10 mill just for s#$%s and giggles to see what the new monster pieces would do. He sent his hero to me and we honestly didn’t expect him to burn. Keep in mind this was when 10 mill burn was considered a record. Unfortunately, I lost the report but I still have the screenshot from it.”

Game of War Memoirs
(FUN) Umpa Fun

“When we lost StayAlive’s hero to Kuran at SW on the first night and had to boost a second (blocking account) and change its name to StayAlive and we still won SW. That was way back when SW was still difficult and boosting a second account was not only costly and time consuming, but super difficult.”

(BH) BABAghanough

“My favorite memory was def when they first introduced GoW tournaments. Our kingdom was the youngest kingdom to make it to the finals. So def some pride there and a nice memory.”

(Bx$) KaneKong

“GoW was an experience that totally transcended just gaming; we met real life friends. People we used to kill everyday, like King Slore and Aj are people we still talk to everyday. People like Atl and OMZ have become real life friends and it all started with our kingdoms merging to take over the game lmao.”

(SB) ShadowV

“So as you may or may not know, we once called k64, Khaos our home. About 15 of us jumped together to k144 the day it opened and eventually changed the kingdom name to “Shadowlands” after winning a worldwide tournament. We left well over 100 cherished friends behind in a couple of shadow brothers alliances that didn’t have the interest or the finances to jump with us. We left on good terms with most of the population in k64 and they always treated the remaining Shadows fairly and with respect.

However as time passed, a group of self-proclaimed rebels in k64 fancied themselves as an elite group of hardcore fighters and at some point decided that the remaining Shadows were easy pickings for a sustained campaign of terror. It’s significant to mention that advanced teleports didn’t exist yet, so no one could travel back and forth above SH5 so we were relatively powerless to help.

(The R5 in k64 happened to be Shadow Vidi aka Mrs. V, so I had a personal stake in the conflict 😂.)

As always, I reached out and attempted to peacefully resolve the conflict, hoping that maybe I would be remembered in k64 (as I had briefly been the king at one time and typically scored amongst the top killers during kvks there) but they weren’t having any of it. My respectful request for dialogue was actually met with disdain and outright threats.

I was a ‘has been etc etc.’, ‘abandoned my kingdom’, ‘was never a real killer blah blah blah’.
So we had a little meeting in k144 and about 5 of us were committed to spending whatever time was required to rectify the situation in 64. Funky B1tch and Goldbergx were among them.
I quietly bought a few medium level accounts in k64, and we began the arduous task of upgrading them to include a decent rally leader, a couple of top notch rally and solo traps and enough to fill a rally.

The next 3 weeks were possibly the most fun any of us had in the 3+ years playing GoW. I lost count on how many of their heroes we caught and executed, including their alliance leader who had been the loudest braggart in the kingdom. They had been so cocky that their bigs considered themselves untouchable and slept unshielded and without sharing logs. It was 3 glorious weeks of carnage without a single Shadow casualty.

It ended with them begging the rest of 64 to turn against SB and join them…..no one else joined them, thank goodness, and eventually they sued for peace which we agreed and then gave the accounts away, returning to 144. Far and away our best GoW memory.”

“Even though I’m Emperor and have been around the game four years …. I’ve done some really stupid stuff. After a week in the game, I thought I was invincible ….. and so did my rookie alliance. I ported to the biggest damn hive I’d ever seen and started soloing everything … turns out it was the farm alliance for the king “Wicked Odie” 365 . After about 20 SH were burning he ported next to me and zeroed my once invincible SH with 6 quick solos. I did the only sensible thing at that point . I demanded his immediate surrender and the return of my hero . He thought that was so hysterical he actually let it go . Then he suggested I needed to apply skills to my hero … I didn’t even know what the hell skills were.”

“What are my favorite memories of Game of War? Being on conference call for super wonder and kicking ass. I miss those once a month dates with Redbull and vodka, and hanging around with my favorite gamers.  We knew what was going on in each others lives, the good bad and the ugly. We knew each other‘s accounts like the back of our hands and could hop on any one of them at any given time to fill in the gap‘s. I was there for all of ONE.  But my favorite one was angry’s. I will never forget angry being on coms and snoring. I miss Grant’s messages, saying come on Toby it’s time to fight. Also very favorite memory was Nana figuring out clam slamming 🙈. I can’t even begin to mention how big our family was and how much I love them all and miss them.”

“Hmm prob first few kvks, and all the fun and exciting new stuff”

(ONE) XxCtessexXDN

“I think the great attribute that GOW had in the early days was the community it built through its excellent chat features and team work it helped develop. We became a “family” rather than just a game team. MZ didn’t seem to realize that the community was as important, if not more important than the game itself. The rapid pace and cost of the game lost our many friends that we had developed over long periods which hurt and was frustrating.

The early game play was fun with crafting the best cores , using strategy and teamwork to win events. Super Wonder marathons were always great fun until lag and dumb features spoilt what were great events. I still miss the game but really I miss the people although many have migrated to other games with me”

(YOLO) DeathbyCali

“My first kingdom was 464 thanos. And I landed in a kingdom with peeps that had been rallying already for months. So of course I was a nobody. Not even close to rally leader. But what I did do was watch the bigs hit traps for tons of points in kvk. So I basically started looking at kvk points and I thought to myself how can I get hit but still gain more points. And continue to get hit.

So basically I trained a whole bunch of t1. But made my gear solid. Now back then my alliance members thought I was insane doing this. Because I will light up like a Christmas tree. And well no trap wanted to burn. Pride I guess. So one day I decided to help another alliance burn some guys in the forest. And I was just big enough not to be soloed.

So we get there and I don’t believe we burned the guy lol. But behold of course I get rally set on me by the top alliance in kingdom. Lol. And peeps yelling at me to port and shield. I was like hell no let’s see how it goes. Lol. I mean I didn’t build this for nothing. Had my anti on. Gear ready. No boost. Some rein. Had bigs all around me. Yes I am gonna burn but I need to see report. I mean I had too. Now this is my first real rally that I was actually on for. Ok. So yea I was nervous.

And then they sent. Lit up red. Then boom. Of course I burned. Lol. But the report was crazy for back then. I lost more troops but power loss was incredible. Literally lost 1/10 of power as them. All of a sudden the guys who reined me started saying omg I never seen that before. Wow. That was awesome. Then I look in mail and see the guy who hit me. Who at that time in my kingdom was one of the main hitters. And all he said was u are the best kvk trap I ever seen. Lmao. That was a huge ego boost for me.

So a few weeks later we have a kvk. I am all ready to go. Boom it starts. I have one alliance rally me. Then another. And another. I look at rally notes I have like 7 rallies on me. Oh shit right. They all start marching. Boom first one hits I build more t1. So on and so on. I think 1 hit me really good. I got tons of points not losing much. I port out and go to the Forrest cause my alliance going for crystal. I am a beast right I can handle it. I am there and I see I get lit red again.

It’s a solo. No big deal. I probably cap hero. Boom it hits. Nope I burned. Wtf. Red again. Omg what. I look it’s the same guy. Sending March. Over and over again. Iam dropping power fast. I try to shield and I can’t. Because I had March in rally. Ughhhhhh. I yell cancel rally. Finally able to shield. I look at power. I was almost zeroed. Like wtf. Who is this guy. I see his name and think wow I just almost got zeroed by a School Bus.

After that I never trapped again. I built my way up to being a rally lead. And I knew exactly what I wanted to do in this game. And that’s do what Bus did to me to other people. And I needed to learn from him. So I grew and grew. And I tried getting into Bx$ to learn from him. And nope. Kept getting denied. Every time I played them I tried and tried. Till one kvk I saw him rallying with a guy named DeathByAJ. And AJ actually won the kvk in points.

So I said well Bx$ won’t let me in. I doubt YOLO would. But I decided to apply there anyway. And then out of no where I get a pm from AJ asking what’s up. Lol. So my ass of course kisses ass and He gave me a shot. And it changed the game for me. I learned everything from him. I watched him get the kill record. I watched him burn bigs that no one thought was possible. I learned to solo fast. Very fast. I also learned that purple pieces were just as beast as gold ones lol.

Within a few weeks Super Wonder came. And I got to help School Bus get his title. Then AJ was next in line. And we won that one as well. Then the next so on and so on. The Bx$ family just destroyed everyone. And I got to be apart of that. It was amazing. From t1 trap to leading rallies and to being on top of the GOW world following beast gamers. Now I try to bring that to FF. That’s y I go HAM now. Because of AJ and bus. I wish mz didn’t get so greedy. Maybe we would still be playing with legends “

“My favorite times were when we crafted the first speed march cores and we would go kingdom to kingdom and blast people out of the wonder.”

(Bx$) ATLienZ

“My best memories, there’s so many, met so many great people but I guess one of my favorite memories is how me and Kane Kong met School Bus.

Kane and myself were training people how to port rally (yes there was a time when rallying without a hero was a effective without spending a gazillion dollars). He picked a random target in a kingdom 252, which we decided to start over in after starting N|o in 148. We left and started Bx$. We saw a target called kindnessoul. He zeroed him as practice to teach others. A day later he asked Kane to join us. Kane texted me and I figured what the hell let’s do it. I was set to teach him the basic fundamentals and custom cores. He couldn’t speak English at the time, so we spoke a lot with google translate and emojis.

So a week later he blows up lol and Kane was paranoid he was going to try to kill us so he builds higher. He changed his name to School Bus, Kane got even more paranoid. 😂 But from that day on we became the best of friends, and what was more memorable was the friends that we met along the way and built upon. Even if we didn’t dominate the game, the friendships along and the amazing people we met made everything worthwhile.

Writing this piece brought back many fond memories, and involved more than one shed tear. So many players have memories to share that we couldn’t fit them all into one piece. Stayed tuned for the next installment of Musings of the Greats.

Core Crafting Guide

All Core Crafting Basics

Cores are back and they arrived in flames of glory. Many players weren’t around when cores were first released. So #teamrealtips has put together a detailed guide to everything you need to know about cores! This should be a very helpful guide for those of you trying to understand core crafting.

Cores were the most powerful type of Gear in Game of War and look like they want to reclaim that title. However, all great things come at a price. Cores are only activated for a limited time, so be sure to make the most of this time.

Table of Contents

Introduction

Equipment Bag: All Bonuses
Core Research
Current cores to use

Introduction

First, we will look at what cores do for you. After that we will look in our forge and see what is important to know. Finally, we will take you through a quick tutorial on how to build your first core.

Cores

Cores are ultra customizable so that you can adapt your attack to any type enemy. They give you the ability to adapt to more situations, more effectively. For example, by having an immortal creature attack gear set, a beast attack gear set, and a dragon attack set, you can rotate between which set is more effective for whoever you are targeting or whoever is targeting you. Since most players will have only a few Core sets, use them only when engaging in a very difficult battle. If a player isn’t geared for War when you hit them in Cores, you have a very high chance burning them significantly.

Since this article was originally published, Game of war has made a couple of changes to the Core Crafting layout within the Forge. After clicking on the Forge in your Stronghold and selecting the “Craft Core Equipment” tab, you will come to a screen that looks like this:

Crafting Screen

Notice that there are two tabs, Cores and Pieces. The “Cores” tab is highlighted, showing that it is active.

Cores Tab

First, we will start by looking at the Cores tab. Below the Cores tab are six subdivisions of types of cores. Each type represents an equipment slot. The general guidelines for each slot are:

  • Attack (Weapon icon/Weapon slot) : Troop attack and march speed.
  • Helm (Helm icon/Helm slot): Troop attack, troop health, march speed, enemy troop health debuff.
  • Chest Plate (Chest icon/Armor slot): Troop health, specialized individual troop attack and enemy attack debuffs (cavalry, infantry, ranged), troop defense, march speed.
  • Ring (Ring icon/Accessory slot): Troop health, troop attack, troop defense.
  • Boots (Boot icon/Foot slot): Troop attack, troop health, troop defense, march speed.
  • Helm/Sword/Armor (Core Sets): Represents Core Sets

The superimposed helm, sword, and plate armor represent Core Sets. Clicking on this icon allows you to scroll down through Core Sets. If the Core is highlighted, it means you possess the item in your Forge. If it is grayed out, you do not have it. Here is an example:

Cores

The number in the bottom right of the individual Core icon shows how many of that item you have in your Forge.

Pieces

Next, let’s look at the pieces tab. The changes to the Pieces tab are a little bit more extensive. Here is a screenshot. Again, note that the “Pieces” tab is highlighted, signifying that it is active.

Cores

There are now seven subdivisions under the Pieces tab. They are listed below with a brief description.

Pieces Subdivisions
First up the Equipment Bag: All Bonuses
Equipment Bag

This sub-tab is a catch-all. It gives access to all pieces available in your Forge inventory.

The subsequent tabs subdivide the Pieces based on their characteristics. These guidelines apply to each of the next five sub-tabs: If the specific characteristic appears in the Piece in any amount, it will be included under that tab. This means that any Piece, regardless of Troop type or sub-type, will be included under a specific sub-tab if it possesses that characteristic. It also means that a single Piece might be included under multiple sub-tabs. Pieces under any tab are always listed in alphabetical order. Continuing from left to right, these sub-tabs are as follows:

Second, Crossed Swords: Attack

Attack

Pieces with Attack stats, regardless of type, can be found under this sub-tab. This includes any Piece with Troop, Infantry, Ranged, or Cavalry Attack stats.

Third, Red Cross: Health

Health

Fourth, Defense Symbol: Defense

Defense

Fifth, Troop: Attack, Defense, Health, Debuffs

Attack, debuffs,etc

This sub-tab is slightly different. It characterizes each Piece based on troop sub-type. Any Piece with any characteristic of that troop sub-type will be included. For example, Infantry is the first Troop type listed. All Pieces with Infantry Attack, Defense, or Health can be found here. It will also include all Pieces with Infantry Attack, Defense, or Health Debuff. Pieces will be listed in alphabetical order, irrespective of its characteristics. The order of the sub-types is Infantry, Cavalry, then Ranged. Unfortunately, this can make the Cavalry, and especially the Ranged, Pieces somewhat difficult to get to under this sub-tab.

Sixth, Coins: Hero Attack and March Speed

Hero Attack and March Speed

Finally, Core Set Pieces

Core Set Pieces

This sub-tab contains each of the Pieces relevant to creating Core Sets. Again, they are grouped by specific Set. The Core Sets are grouped with the most recently released Set at the top and get progressively older (by release date) as you scroll down.

Core Research

Next, let’s take a look at the research surrounding cores. Currently, Core Research is 2 years old. Everyone should have it done. If not they definitely have an instant item to complete the full tree. But just in case we will list the research.

First and foremost, you need to have the cores researched for each level.

Core Research

First, each level of the Core needs to be researched before you can begin combining that level Core. Then, Crafting refinement allows you to create a stronger Core. Each Core and each Piece has a minimum and maximum stat. The refinement allows you to have a higher combined stats of all Pieces combined.

Next, in the Crafting tree, you can also Research Gathering Pieces, better Crafting speeds, extra Piece slots (first 3 are given to you), Duration and Luck, and a fourth Gem slot for specific equipment Pieces.

Organizing Your Cores & Pieces

Next, we are going to look at how to organize your cores and pieces. Combine all of your cores and pieces. First, move all purple and gold cores and pieces that you plan on using to the top before you start combining. To choose the ones you plan on using you need to have an idea of what type of core you want to craft (will discuss more below). Finally, don’t have any pieces of low-quality at the top.

How to Swap Cores and Pieces

First, scroll down to where you see Cores (or Pieces) that are unavailable.

Swap

Second, tap a Core (or Piece) that is dark and therefore unavailable. An option to Swap it will appear. Tap the button.

Swap

Next, you will select the Core you want to Swap Arching Legs with. In this case, I will choose the Imperial Battle Skirt.

Swap

Finally, to finalize the Swap, you will have to pay in Gold unless you have a Swap Core item.

Swap

Aching Legs Core has now been placed among your available cores 🙂

Crafting Your First Core

Finally, let’s take a look at how to actually craft a core. We’ve already talked in depth about the fundamental question behind Core crafting which is: What will be the purpose of this Core? You are the only person that can answer this. This will determine what you craft and how you craft it.

Now we’ll walk you through a brief guide to Crafting your first Core.

Choose a Purposes

First, we will look at the three different purposes for crafting a core. Thes are first leading a rally, second taking a rally, and third holding the wonder.

Leading a Rally

This is the easiest category, just focus on doing as much damage as possible based on in-game stats at the time. Currently, mythical creature attack is doing the most damage so that’s a great place to start. Also, consider debuffs. A good balance is key to crafting awesome cores. This strategy is what most players long for.

Taking Rallies

Assuming you have the needed creatures to take a rally you would want to focus on mythical creature health and defense. You can accomplish this by adding individual health and defense or overall mythical creature health or defense.

Step 1: Go to your Forge

First, Click on your Forge.

Forge

Second, Click on “Craft Core Equipment”.

Craft

Then this will open you to your Cores Inventory.

Inventory Inventory

Next, once you know what stats you are aiming to maximize, pick the Core and Pieces that have the highest bonuses for your target stats.

At the bottom left of your screen, you will see a button that says “Cores Stats”.

Core Stats

Then, click on the button to bring up each stat for all the Cores you have. Since I am showing the Fork Sword, we will be talking about that as an example.

Cores

As you can see, each item that is available for the Weapon slot is shown. If you scroll down you can see the others you have. Clicking one of the other categories on the ribbon will give you different choices. First, choose the Core you would like to use based on the stats. Stats are key to getting the specific items you want. The level 6 Fork Sword shows a Strategic Troop Attack Bonus, with stats of 25.63% – 39.47%. Whatever you chose, will be your foundation Core. Then, click the Add button to add it to the queue.

Next, click the Pieces tab.

Click the Pieces Stats Button and use the same process. First, Go through the categories, then scroll through the pieces, and add your Pieces. You can add up to 6 pieces depending on how many slots you have Researched. This can increase your Gear’s stats enormously!

Also note, that you can add level 6 Pieces to any level of Core, the Core is the foundation and the pieces enhance the Core. You can combine a level 4 Core with level 6 Pieces for better stats. Although just because you use level 6 pieces does not change the Core to legendary, it stays at the same level even if the Pieces are higher.

If you have any Pieces or Cores greyed out, they will not be available to be used or seen, use Piece Swap items or Core Swap items.

You can easily delete and place a Piece or Core back into your inventory to chose a different one if needed.

So let’s say you have a Core and 3 Pieces queued. First, at the top of the screen, you will see all the items ready. Next, at the bottom of the screen, you see three buttons: Pieces stats or Core stats depending on the screen you were last in, an Instant Craft button, and a Craft button to use Silver to Craft your Piece. Either Gold or Silver can be clicked to craft, it is your choice.

Craft

Next, Speed Ups are used to reduce Crafting time. Finally, when completed, you get an in-game email, with a link to the Core you created. It will show you the name and quality of the Core, and the stats it contains after combining.

Final Product

Current cores to use

Game of War Defense Core

A favorite thing for many of us to do in Game of War is trapping. There’s nothing better than seeing that “Victory” battle report in your mail, along with the visual of “smoke of winningness” over your head. In this article, we will delve into custom defensive cores.

How do you design a defense core, you say? Well, it really depends on what stats you’d like to focus on in your account. Every situation is going to be slightly different based on your research, buildings, banners, hero, gems, skilling and much more! Below we will build a defensive core that is relatively general and can be adapted for your own city.

First, let’s talk about the actual GoW cores. For our core today, we are going to use the  base cores below. These cores focus on Empire Defender Demigod Attack, Demigod Empire Defending Defense, and Empire Defender Demigod Health. Everyone’s maximum stats are going to vary based on your research, hero, and core levels. (And don’t forget your PowerForge gear!)

Cores

  • Helm- Deep Emerald Annihilator
  • Weapon- Deep Emerald Garrote
  • Armor- Deep Emerald Honor
  • Feet- Deep Emerald Resolve
  • Accessory- Deep Emerald Call (3 of these!)

Now, let’s add in our pieces. You can add six pieces to each core. We are going to focus on the same stats:

  • Empire Defender Demigod Attack
  • Demigod Empire Defense
  • Empire Defender Demigod Health
  • PLUS add some additional attack and defensive stats

Pieces

  • Horselord’s Mortality (Empire Defender Demigod Attack)
  • Emerald Monkey (Demigod Empire Defending Defense)
  • Silver Plates (Empire Defender Demigod Health)
  • Labyrinth Bunckle (Demigod Empire Defending Defense, Demigod Embassy Defense)
  • Carving of Thought (Thunderlord, Waterlord, Firelord, Mythic and Trap Attack)
  • Carving of Hearing (Thunderlord, Waterlord, Firelord Attack AND Defense AND Health)

Defense Core Recipe CardThe core we built will add some juicy stats to your defense. That being said, it’s only one version! Crafting a custom core is something everyone should try, and allows you to  customize your gameplay. Look at your base stats, decide what you need, and focus on it. Mix and match in the forge to create the perfect core to adorn your hero. For some added pizzazz, throw some Hades gems in there and go incognito. Then take it for a spin!

Valco: A Lost Empire

Valco

Rumors have been circulating in the Game of War community about hidden kingdoms. Well, the rumors are true. Valco and Tempus are kingdoms that exist on their own terms and rules. When you’re there, you can’t see the world map and when you leave, it becomes invisible to you through the world map. These Kingdoms, in effect do not exist. So why do we see more and more players being sent to them when they download the game?

Tempus and Valco are not like the rest of Game of War, either. While the majority of players are ensconced in a city with Stronghold 1100 something, Valco and Tempus residents are still trying to reach Stronghold 21 or 30. Opening a regular T4 is the pinnacle of success for them, and Demigods do not exist in their world. We are all wondering, will these Kingdoms remain what they are? Or will they eventually join the rest of the Game of War Community? Aly and Cinder took a journey into Valco and explored to see exactly what was going on. Here’s what we found.

The Similarities

At first glance, it looks just like GOW 4 years ago. SH21 dot the landscape. There’s not a gold roof to be seen. Xena gear adorns Level 60 heros, along with golden chalices, and other economic options. It seems like a dream come true for players yearning for “days of GOW past”. A scan through the forge brings back delightful memories of calculating exactly which gear pieces to craft for the ultimate research boost. Even old world politics are in play, as the players are not able to escape the confines of their borders.

ValcoThe Differences

Valco seems to be a land lost in time. Although you are provided with a beginner’s port when creating an account, there is no world map to allow you to leave the kingdom. The gear is primarily Xena, Fire Age and old economic pieces. Although the ability to see newer sets is in the forge, there’s no opportunity to get the materials to craft them. Obtaining the materials to craft gear is very expensive as the packs only offer small amounts of chests. There are no monsters on the map to kill for materials, or to farm. In purchasing several packs, we discovered that growth in this kingdom seems to be prohibitively expensive.

Is Valco Worth it?

If you’re desperate for a dose of nostalgia and don’t mind a snail-like progression in growth (at a higher price-point), Valco may be the kingdom for you. If you are used to the fast pace of a “regular” GOW kingdom, you will most likely abandon your Valco account within a few days. While updates have begun to allow more players access to this RSS, it is very costly. Rumors continue to circulate the kingdom about this hidden kingdom. As of today, we don’t know if they will remain separate – or if strongholds of Valco could even compete in a world-map environment.

The Lost Empire

While we had a chance to journey into Valco, we are still left with many questions. Will these kingdoms eventually appear on the map and join in the Era of Demigods? Will new players continue to be sent to these kingdoms, while we continue to hope for more actives in ancient kingdoms? Or will Valco and Tempus remain simply stories the old folks tell of kingdoms, lost to time; we will have to wait and see.

April Super Wonder

Super Wonder, as usual, brought much excitement to the GOW community. This old-school event keeps the masses enthralled. Even if you aren’t participating on a Super Wonder team, many old friends and enemies find their way there, if only to laugh at the trolls in KC. This past Saturday brought us an enjoyable Game of War Super Wonder with some new teams who put up a solid fight.

Team 73V has dominated events lately, though and this Super Wonder was no different as 73V once again had an impressive win. Who will be the team that can finally beat them? What does Team 73V have that everyone else seems to be missing? Huck and Kira have led the 73V team to victory two times in a row now. While others have tried, this team has a recipe to conquer all.

Team 73V

Who is Team 73V? This group of people proves diversity can be the spice of life. They have the strategists, manpower, and spirit.  As a family of players, they’ve evolved in the game and are now a force.

Team 73VThe Strategists

Team 73V has negotiated alliances with some of the game’s most powerful strategists. Over time, they have worked to recruit active, skillful players; patience and precision is paying off. They spend days and weeks prepping for this event, testing and making sure their setups are solid. The team that comes to steal your wonder is just practicing for the next Super Wonder.

The Manpower

Super Wonder is not a one-man event, no matter how many wish it were. Super Wonder requires significant active manpower. You need people willing to endure sleepless nights, and hide in the bathroom with their phone when necessary (don’t lie.. We all do it). Team 73V has a strong team that is willing to sacrifice sleep and sometimes, even food. They schedule people, ready to work around the clock. And if something happens to the first person, you better believe there is a backup. Victory requires preparation, and 73V likes to win.

The Spirit

73V is depicted by a wolf, and that depiction is apt since wolves symbolize spirit and cooperation. 73V is all about “team”, and their conversations during events can easily be described as spirited. This team loves the game and the people that come with the game. They want to excel, and they do!

The Secret

With all of this said, we are left to wonder (Super wonder… ha) what sets them apart. None of this seems like a secret, other teams have these factors, yet 73V continues to build a dynasty and conquer over all. They must have another secret. Well, Teamrealtips asked Emperor Huck what his secret was and we found out…

Or did we? It’s not really a secret.

“I think what makes us great:

  1. Many of us have played together for 4 years and we know how to help each other.
  2. We really test things… gems, banners and gear.
  3. We always have a top grade account to lead.
  4. We have schedule for key roles prior to event
  5. Most importantly, we are relentless… like a pitbull. We keep going and going and going. Our leads and fillers are highly experienced and stay in long hours to win, and we have learned a number of tricks along the way.”

 ~73V Huckster

What makes 73V strong is a strong team that plans and plans, and never gives up. This team is proving over and over again that they are champions and have earned well the titles they hold. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for events to come! The battle is always the best part!

Attack Core Featured Image

Who doesn’t love to crush their opponent and leave them blazing in a pyre of flame? In our last core article we discussed defensive cores. Today we are going to craft some cores to be used when rallying. In future articles we will discuss cores for solo attacking, but for today let’s focus on the rally. Everyone loves to get together and have a good time! Alliance bonding at its best. We are going to craft three different sets, one for each troop type: Firelord, Waterlord and Thunderlord.

How do you design an attack core? What do I focus on? The answer is the same as we discussed in the defensive core article. It really depends on what stats you’d like to focus on in your account. Every situation is going to be slightly different based on your research, buildings, banners, hero, gems, skilling and much more! Below we will build some attack cores that are relatively general and can be adapted for your own city.

Firelord Rally Attack Cores

First let’s talk about the a Firelord Rally Attack Set. For our core today, we are going to use the  base cores below. These cores focus on Firelord Attack, Defense and Health. Everyone’s maximum stats are going to vary based on your research, hero and core levels. Be sure that you use Power Forge gear and your hero is skilled for the maximum high range boost.

Firelord Rally CoreThe Cores

  • Warmonger Helm
  • Master Dragon Seal
  • Master Dragon Staff
  • Imperial Battle Kilt
  • Master Dragon Trinket (three of these)

Now, let’s add in our pieces. We are going to focus on the same stats: Firelord Attack/Defense/Health, PLUS add some additional Demigod Rally Attack, Demigod Mythic Attack, Demigod Trap Attack and Demigod Attack.

The Pieces

  • Horselord’s Pestilence
  • Horselord’s War
  • Horselord’s Hunger
  • Horselord’s Famine
  • Fossilized Pottery
  • Master Warrior Crest

Now that we have a lovely Firelord recipe under our belt, let us move on to Waterlord.

Waterlord Rally Attack Cores

Next up a Waterlord Rally Attack Set. For this set, we are going to use the same idea as we did for the Firelord set, only shift our focus. These cores focus on Waterlord Attack, Defense and Health.

Some Final Tips for Crafting Custom Cores

As we wrap up this week’s episode of custom crafting let’s go over some tips that will help you craft your own cores.

  • Always skill your hero to maximize core crafting boosts.
  • Wear your PowerForge gear.
  • Keep a notebook or excel workbook where you can easily manipulate your stats and try different combinations before you actually craft.
  • Take a good look at your base stats and see what you may want to strengthen. Especially in the current GoW climate, everyone is at a different point in their research, gears, gems, etc. What we did above may not make sense for your account. Adjust it!
  • Have fun! Challenge your alliance mates to a crafting dual!

As always, Teamrealtips invites your feedback below. Let’s see what you’ve got!

Cores levels have continued to go higher and the higher they are the stronger they are. It appears they are on the rise and everyone will want to be in the know! We have been sharing some core recipes here at Teamrealtips with you and now it is your turn. Can you find the hidden recipe?

We all know they are out there. From the beginning of cores we have had secret recipes that rise above the rest. The in game blog introducing the demigod cores eluded that this would be no different and stated that there were “secret combinations.” Our challenge to you our community is to find these. The first person to find a hidden recipe will win a 100 dollar gift card to their choice of Google Play or iTunes.

How it Works

  1. It’s simple. Find the Secret Combination.
  2. Submit Recipe and Stats
  3. Teamrealtips will check it and award the first person to find it a 100 Dollar Gift Card
  4. Those from Canada and other areas are unfortunately unable to participate as US gift cards do not work in the appstore.

Dominate With Solo Attack Cores

Attack Cores

In this episode of Crafting Customs with Aly, we will be focusing on crafting cores to use for soloing your opponent. In our last core article, we went over crafting cores to use for rallying. Today, we’re going to switch it up just a tad and create solo attack cores. Just like the rally attack cores, we are going to craft three different sets, one for each troop type: Firelord, Waterlord, and Thunderlord.

How do you design a solo attack core? What do I focus on, and how is it different from a rally attack core? The answer is the same as before: it really depends on what stats you’d like to focus on in your account. Every strategy is going to be slightly different based on your research, buildings, banners, hero, gems, skilling and much more! Below, we will build some attack cores for soloing and sniping that can be tweaked to give maximum benefit to your own city.

Firelord Solo Attack Cores

First let’s talk about the Firelord Solo Attack Set. For our core today, we are going to use the base cores below. These cores focus on Firelord Attack, Defense and Health. Everyone’s maximum stats are going to vary based on your research, hero, and core levels.

Firelord Solo Attack CoresThe Cores

  • Warmonger Helm
  • Master Dragon Seal
  • Master Dragon Staff
  • Imperial Battle Kilt
  • Master Dragon Trinket (three of these)

Now, let’s add in our pieces. We are going to focus on the same stats: Firelord Attack, Defense, and Health, PLUS add some additional Demigod Mythic Attack, Demigod Trap Attack, Demigod Attack, and some heath and defense.

The Pieces

  • Carving of Touch
  • Horselord’s War
  • Horselord’s Hunger
  • Horselord’s Famine
  • Runestone of Immortality
  • Coral Branch

Now that we have a lovely Firelord recipe under our belt, let us move on to Waterlord.

Waterlord Solo Attack Cores

Next up: a Waterlord Solo Attack Set. For this set, we are going to use the same idea as the Firelord set, only shift our focus. These cores focus on Waterlord Attack, Defense and Health.

Waterlord Attack CoreThe Cores

  • Majestic Sea Regalia
  • Majestic Sea Crown
  • Majestic Sea Skewer
  • Majestic Sea Walkers
  • Majestic Sea Goblet (three of these)

The Pieces

  • Carving of Touch
  • Horselord’s War
  • Horselord’s Hunger
  • Horselord’s Famine
  • Runestone of Immortality
  • Coral Branch

Lastly, let’s round this out with our Thunderlord recipe.

Thunderlord Solo Attack Cores

Finally, we have our Thunderlord Solo Attack Set. For this set, we change the focus yet again, and swap in cores and pieces that focus on Thunderlord stats. These cores focus on Thunderlord Attack, Defense, and Health.

The Cores

  • Master Ra’s Brand
  • Master Ra’s Flight
  • Master Ra’s Threads
  • Master Ra’s Visor
  • Master Ra’s Amulet (three of these)

The Pieces

  • Carving of Touch
  • Horselord’s War
  • Horselord’s Hunger
  • Horselord’s Famine
  • Runestone of Immortality
  • Coral Branch

You’ve probably noticed the pieces on these sets are all the same. Rather than focus on troop-specific stats on the pieces end, we have chosen to add a bit more health and defense to help your troops make it home. Feel free to customize! That’s the best part about creating custom cores!

Some Final Tips for Crafting Custom Cores

As we wrap up this week’s episode of Crafting Customs with Aly, let’s go over some tips that will help you craft your own cores.

Adjust it!
  • Have fun! Challenge your alliance mates to a crafting duel!
  • When attacking, be sure you have the correct gear, gems, and banners on! It is very specific now, and even if something works for a rally, there may be a better setup for a solo.

As always, Teamrealtips invites your feedback below. Let’s see what you’ve got!

A Meme Kind of Day

Memes

Cinder loves memes, and apparently speaking of herself in the third person. However, that does not negate the fact that memes are awesome, and over our time in Game of War, we have seen some great ones. From memes that only your alliance gets to the ones that anyone that has ever played GOW understands, there are some great ones out there. From educational to just plain funny, some of these memes we will never forget.

“If you play, you get it” memes

We have seen this meme multiple times and with many different sayings. Y’all got more of them Speedups, RSS, Packs, etc… That moment when you run out of that one item always leads to the pack itch. You know what the pack itch is: I need a pack but I shouldn’t buy a pack, but I really need a pack so I can finish this training queue… And the itch begins. We haunt the gold store waiting for the perfect pack and our bank accounts to align, and say prayers ’cause we got that pack itch.Speeds Remember when we were in Protected Kingdoms and Hives were all the rage? I know they still are for some alliances, not knocking you, I promise. However, for many of us, we sit wherever we fall asleep and it may not even be in our own kingdom, but back in the day, we had our hives. Within our hives, we had our spot, and then one day a newb joined and while we were away they went and sat in our spot. Leading to an extreme Sheldon Cooper moment, YOU’RE IN MY SPOT! Chill dude… there are green pixels everywhere, just park your Stronghold elsewhere. “THAT’S MY SPOT.”My Spot

Scout bombs… Taking advantage of lag for many years. If you haven’t been scout bombed in the midst of being rallied, then you haven’t really lived. As a bait trap, I was constantly scout bombed with the lead, hoping I would be kept from changing gear (too bad they didn’t know I am better than that, hahaha). However, it does not change my opinion on scout bombers, you low-lifes, scum of the earth (too far?). Many a time after capping, the bomber was then the recipient of having their skills as a heroless trap tested.

Scout Bombs“The Types of People you meet in Kingdom Chat” Memes

KC Trolls or Keyboard Warriors… I don’t really need to say more but I will. They rage in kingdom chat as if they are the biggest and baddest of all, often in all caps. Kingdom chat has provided the perfect place for many types of Game of War Trolls. You have the trap troll: an active player who just wants to get hit. The outdated troll: their account is outdated, but they are going to come back one day and burn everyone to the ground. Finally: the person that “quit” but are there to rag on everyone still playing… everyday… dude, I thought you quit? Game of War Trolls

On the opposite side of that, you have the other people in KC… the people that feed the trolls. DON’T FEED THE TROLLS, PEOPLE!! When you feed the trolls, they never go away and continue going on and on and goading and baiting until you once again feed them. I am telling you, it is a vicious cycle. Be like Bill: walk away and save us all from the next troll tirade.Don't Feed the Trolls

Then there is the third type of person you will see in Kingdom Chat… well, kind of… you don’t really see them. They are the Lurker, watching and reading and hoping for drama but they don’t interact. The Lurker rarely comes out from their natural state of lurking, but they sit and hope that the drama llama rears its head. Drama Llama

The fourth type of person you see in KC is the whiner. They whine because they got zeroed and you are supposed to be on a NAP. Why did they hit me? Aren’t they allies? What happened to the NAP? Oh and by the by, they are whining in KC because their own alliance got sick of the whining in AC and told them to shut it. So they very kindly brought their whining to the rest of the Kingdom. I have two statements for that person, 1) Next time, shield, and 2) It’s a War Game, take your NAP elsewhere (now I want an actual nap).

No NAPs!So while we have our everyday people in KC, there are also new people in KC on occasion. Remember KVK when we actually ported to other kingdoms instead of a special kingdom? New people would enter our kingdom with devil’s faces and troll our KC chatting. Some were funny, some not so much. However, funny or not, you were still going to burn them at the end of the day. I mean, it is KVK.Funny Guy

KvK Memes

Just another day and a new blog, but what is this?? KvK has been announced in the blog. Get ready to burn anyone who dares oppose you to the ground. Time to test and purge the kingdom. Hide behind your shield because no one is safe during the purge! If you take your own kingdom down in the process so be it, at least the other team can’t get the points. KvK

You are going about your own merry way trying to burn the kingdom to the ground during KvK, when suddenly… uh oh… your hero does not return. Do you hem? Beg? Go the funny email route? You’re captured and your only hope is to hang your head and beg or pop that hemlock.Hero Please

Your alliance’s best lead has been capped! KvK grinds to a halt. There is no way you will win now, and that trap refuses to execute. Time to put on your KvK trap troll game. You change your name to, “He’s trapping.” You email them and promise that you will not budge from their side until they have returned your alliance mate’s hero and you’re a better trap, so beware. KvK

You fell asleep during KvK. Probably should not have tried to pull an all-nighter, but you did, and woke up zeroed. With only a few troops left to heal in your hospital. You came back online to flames and frantic messages from your alliance mates! Where are you? SHIEEEEELLLLDDDDDD!!!!!! However, you were too late, and they are all gone. Zeroed

Back when health traps were still new and no one knew what they were, we would see players in flames and assume they were throwing KvK. We were going to lose because once again someone did not know how to shield. They are in flame and we are doomed because they just keep getting hit over and over and over and over and over again. Good Lord, how do they have any troops left!!!!won on points!

When Game of War Crosses Over into RL (Real Life)

KvK is tonight but Billy Joe Bob is coming over tonight. The dilemma!! You will be shunned by your alliance for missing KvK! You should have planned better, you should have known. It’s too late to reschedule. However, there is a solution… Sorry guys, must have eaten something bad! I mean it is KvK

Caught! Billy Joe Bob came to check on you and offer Pepto-Bismol, and you have been caught! Do you ham it up and say you were occupying yourself while your intestines exploded from the inside out, or do you fess up to poor planning and a desire to spend time with your online friends, all while trying to convince Billy Joe Bob that he should play too? Game of War

Game of War is down for maintenance. You are at a loss. How will you occupy your time? The other humans in your house beckon to you. Well… maybe now is a good time to spend time with these people. At the very least, it will occupy your time between checking to see if the game is back up every 30 seconds. Game of War Down

We end with the ultimate crossover of Game of War into Real Life. When things that you run into every day begin to take on meaning in a Game of War mindset. Red cars are battlemarked, and going to the gold store, oops, I mean grocery store is your never-ending quest for RSS. But, I mean, come on, who doesn’t wish that their coworkers could hit help and help shorten the length of time your tasks take. I mean, that’s just more time to hide in the bathroom and play Game of War. You Might Play too Much

The Plight of Darius

Darius

Once upon a time, our Hero Darius was staring sadly into the closet within his castle. Although poor Darius had a lovely gold helm and shiny footwear, the rest of his outfit looked like he had just dragged in from the fields; drab and dull. He couldn’t battle like this! The rest of his alliance was impatiently waiting for him to arrive, and as usual Darius was late because he had NOTHING TO WEAR. What was our Hero to do? Then – “Ah Ha!” – he had a plan. What if…he thought…

Determining Your Weak Point

Darius has a problem. Even though he has lucked out on the GOW lottery and won a couple pieces of nice gear, his other gear is sub par. His outfit is terribly unfashionable and the second he drops shield his gears are going to burn into ash.

Darius' Gear

Luckily, Darius is a smart Hero and decides to think outside the box. He pulls up his Boosts menu and takes a look at his stats.

Darius' Stats“You know I’really love some additional attack,” he muses to himself. He scrolls through his inventory of armor, desperately hoping he’s missed a Ultimate Grand Champion Emblazoned Armor, even though he hasn’t bought a pack in a week. “Curses!” he says “No luck there.”

“You know…” he ponders, “I’ve really enjoyed those Core articles xAlyKat has been writing for Teamrealtips. Maybe I should try something new!”

Supplementing Your Gear With Cores

Suddenly Darius has an idea! “What if I exchange cores for the pieces of gear that are terrible?” He rushes to the Forge and gets to work. He crafts and compares, using his nifty excel worksheet, for a fortnight (really it was two hours…Darius is prone to exaggeration). By the light of candles, he discovers that donning accessories that use the Master Dragon Trinket Core and Pieces such as Horselord’s War, Carving of Touch and the Runestone of Immortality will aid him on his quest and increase his attack!

The next morning, he barricades himself inside his Forge. Slaving away over the hot furnace, forging, crafting and possibly burning a finger. In disgust, he throws his old gray clothes into the fire.

Level 4 CoreAt last he emerges into the sunlight. Slightly battered but victorious! In his bag, he has several beautiful cores to clothe himself with. Once he puts his new gear on, his stats will increase and he will smite all his foes!

StatsIn the distance, he sees his alliance deep in battle. He throws on his new gear and charges into the fray, burning left and right. At last, he no longer feels the shame of his ugly and frayed old gear. He is victorious in battle! As the timer on his cores ticks down, he realizes that in his excitement he has made a horrible miscalculation in burning his old clothes…he has nothing else to wear.

It’s All About That Boost

It's all about that boost

It’s all about that boost, no treble. Those may be the wrong words but the concept stands. As Game of War becomes more immersed in Demigods, boosts are beginning to play a bigger and bigger part in the game. Not only are there normal boosts that you can apply but we now have a whole building dedicated to just boosts. Here we will cover boosts now being offered in Game of War, so that boosting becomes no treble for you.

The Normal Boosts

These are the boosts that we are all used to. You go to your boost screen to apply these. However, this list continues to get longer and longer. What you need to know is that if it is not for Demigods, it does not matter! Here are some of the current in-game boosts that we are dealing with.

  • Demigod Attack- This boost is good for traps and leads.
  • Demigod Defense- Works great when combined with Demigod Attack
  • Demigod Rally Attack- Leads boost your rallies with this one.
  • Demigod Health- Health is a great way for all players to strengthen their army.
  • Demigod Wonder Holding Health- If you want wonder, you need this boost.
  • Demigod Rally Health- Leads boost the strength of your troops!
  • Demigod Wonder Holding Attack- Attack is currently a very important component in being able to kill more of your attacker’s march. Wonder Holders, boost up!

Boost Screen

Boost Screen

Other Boosts

Moving on from your basic boosts, there are other boosts that you need to consider in game. You can receive boosts from multiple sources that are very important to note when building or purchasing packs.

  • Efficiencies and Reductions for Research and More
  • Troop Upkeep Reductions- Those greedy troops do like to eat all of your food
  • Buildings with Boosts, including Pantheon, Monster Lair, and Boost Building

Boost Building

Here is where we will spend most of our time. The boost building has become more and more relevant as levels increase. Currently, this building has a max level of three. Within this building, you will find many boosts that are important to gameplay. They are separated into three tabs and cover a broad range of things from economics to combat. Additionally, within each tab, the categories are broken even further down. Each of the boosts takes different components to unlock. However, the good news is that once these boosts are unlocked, they are lifetime boosts, meaning you will never lose them. In addition, they stack, which means the more you unlock, the higher your stats.

Athena’s Rewards

Let’s start by covering the different tabs and the basics of what you need to know about these areas. Athena’s rewards, similar to Athena’s research, are boosts that can be unlocked using Athena’s Rewards Boost Creation Component. This component is obtainable through, you guessed it, Athena’s Rewards. This means these are essentially free boosts. Collect your Athena’s rewards and unlock those boosts. Let’s take a look at what boosts you can unlock here.

The boosts you choose to open here will vary greatly depending on what you have of different components and what is your most needed. Later we will discuss prioritizing what you unlock.

Combat

Finally, we come to the combat tab. This is the tab that many players love due to all of the combat stats it provides for troops, traps, and mythics. What is great about this section is not only does it give great boosts but they are hidden. Other players have no way of knowing what boosts you have chosen here or how many you have. This is a great feature for traps looking for an extra edge. Let’s take a look at what this section provides.

Choosing your Combat Boosts will be unique to each player. The type of player you are will determine what boosts you want to unlock first. Let’s look into that now.

Choosing Your Boosts

As mentioned, choosing boosts will be unique to every type of player. As a trap player, I will choose much different boosts then a Wonder player would choose. What works for me does not necessarily work for you and what works for me as a trap does not necessarily work for you as a trap due to the fact that there are different setups and boosts that can be used. However, here we will look at some things to consider as each type of player when choosing these boosts.

Defense or Trap Players

Defense or trap players will want to focus on several stats. The priority will depend on how you are built. However, currently with traps taking a huge part of the hits, Teamrealtips would recommend focusing on Trap Stats first.

Here are the Stats that are important:

  • Attack- Focusing all of your energy on defense will be ineffective. Attack is very necessary in being able to kill off the incoming march. Teamrealtips did tests showing a combination of Attack and Defense being the best for defending your Stronghold. For more info on these tests, check out Rise of the Demigods.
  • Defense- This seems to be a no-brainer. Defense is very important for anyone trying to protect their troops.
  • Health- Strengthen your troops
  • Attack Debuff- Take some of the sting out of your attacker’s march

The order you go in will largely depend on how you build. Always remember that there is no such thing as a cookie-cutter trap. Tailor the boosts you use to your gameplay style and don’t waste creation materials.

Attack Players

Attack players have more that they need to focus on. However, when looking at being a lead, you need to be aware if you are more interested in leading rallies or being a solo artist. This will help you with where to focus stats first. However, having played the lead and trap, my recommendation for leads is always don’t forget that you need defense too. Here are some of the stats attack players will want to focus on.

  • All of the Debuffs- Weaken your enemy by debuffing their stats.
  • Attack- This will help you to be able to kill more. You have multiple options, including Rally Attack. However, with the difficulties getting through traps, when hitting trap attack may be a good place to start.
  • Health- Make sure you strengthen your troops.
  • Battlemark- Increase your strength with these boosts.

Wonder Players

Wonder players have their own set of stats that are crucial to game-play. Don’t be a one-hit wonder and get knocked out. Utilize your boosts to be sure that you can hold.

  • Wonder Holding Health and Attack- These are two huge stats in being sure to be able to hold your wonder.
  • Wonder Attack and Health- Overall, any stats that say wonder are going to be important.
  • Debuffs- Debuff when attacking or being attacked.

Where to Start

Make sure you do not waste creation materials on boosts that you do not need. For example, if you have already completed Economics research, don’t spend your creation material to unlock the boosts offered.

In addition, know what you are able to obtain in materials. You can start with the biggest boost but if you won’t be able to open that boost because of how much you are able to spend, it may be better to start lower. Know what you need and whether or not you have the capability to wait when deciding where to start in your unlocks.

This building continues to bring us more and more. Keep checking back here for updates and it will be No Treble!
