Well, it was my intent to release another article related to various tests that some of you had requested.  Unfortunately, MZ decided to make significant changes to the game and I wanted to make sure that RealTips readers were updated on the changes.  Remember all of the complaints that we have made about how the prizes for events were worthless to the vast majority of players?  Remember all of the complaints over the years that MZ does not listen to its players?  It seems like MZ decided to address both of those complaints head-on!  With the revamping of the Black Market, Daily Quests, and Events, MZ has given players what they have wanted most – some control over the prizes that are earned for our time spent on the game.  In this article we will discuss the changes to the Black Market, how to earn Tokens to spend in the Black Market, and how the Daily Events have changed to incorporate the Black Market into the game.

What Changed and How Does it Affect the Game?

As many of you recall, Daily Quests and Events typically rewarded a number of speeds, T1 Resources and sometimes T3 resources, minimal loyalty, and sometimes very small quantities of the newest items released.  As this has been a constant bone of contention amongst the players, MZ committed to finding a way to make the events worthwhile for players of all sizes.  The problem MZ faced in addressing our complaints about the prizes awarded in these events is that the structure of the events was built into the coding of the game, and changing the prizes was not as simple as swapping the items rewarded.  While this could be done on a smaller scale for certain events, as we have seen with Hero EXP and Medal events, a complete renovation of the Daily Quests and Events would require a more measured approach.

MZ announced how it would change the events and rewards in the blog shown, below:

Blog Information

As stated in the blog, the first update was to the Daily Rotating and Catch-Up Events.  By completing these events, players are able to collect two kinds of tokens: Iron Black Market Token 2021 or Catch Up Iron Black Market Token 2021.  Once the player has collected enough tokens they could then spend them in either the Weekly Black Market, which takes Iron Black Market Token 2021 or the Bonus Catch Up Extravaganza Black Market, which requires Catch Up Iron Black Market Token 2021.  As of the publication of this article, both Black Markets are currently on a timer and are scheduled to close at 6:00 P.M. Central Standard Time on January 26th.  That said, it is suggested that you use ALL of the tokens you have earned by then since we do not know if unused tokens will carry forward when the market re-opens.

The Rotating Events and Tokens Awarded

There are two types of events that rotate throughout the day.  The first type of events are often referred to as the Hourly Events and include things like Hero EXP and Medal events, Dragon Events, and VIP events.  In the past, these events awarded upper-level resources, higher loyalty, and newer items as rewards.  Now, the rewards for these events are Iron Black Market tokens.  Most events award 50,000 Iron Black Market tokens with the exception being the Dragon Events, which award 100,000 Iron Black Market Tokens. Here is a handy reference showing what each event rewards:

Hourly Events and Rewards

One thing that I did want to point out very quickly is that there are a few events that are just not worth completing unless you already have large amounts of the item needed to complete the event stockpiled. I am mainly referring to the Speed Dungeon events.  At present, the only way to obtain Black Market Master Dungeon Energy is by purchasing it in the Weekly Black Market, where it will cost you 5,000 Iron Black Market Tokens for 1,000 Black Market Master Dungeon Energy.  Looking at the 3-hit dungeon event, it will cost 15,000 tokens to obtain the 3,000 dungeon energy required to complete the event.  Once completed, you will only gain 10,000 Iron Black Market tokens, a loss of 5,000 tokens.  The moral of the story?  Be smart about the events you complete!

The other type of event is the Bonus Catchup Extravaganza events.  These are often viewed as the easier events and the rewards for completing them were geared to smaller and/or new players.  These events revolved around leveling up your account, by increasing your stronghold, raising your VIP, and training troops, completing quests, and hitting monsters.  Unlike the Hourly Events, the Bonus Catchup Extravaganza events all award the same amounts of rewards, as shown in the graph below:

Bonus Extravaganza Events

Now that you are familiar with the events and the prizes awarded in those events, you are probably curious what you can buy with all of those tokens you worked hard to get.  Let’s take a look at the remodeled Black Market!

Tokens Burning a Hole in your Pocket?  Go Shopping at the Black Market!

As you may have picked up by now, the Black Market is currently split into two versions – the Weekly Black Market and the Bonus Catchup Extravaganza.  Although somewhat self-explanatory, the difference between the two markets is that one, the Weekly Black Market, contains newer items while the other, the Bonus Catchup Extravaganza, contains older items that would appeal to smaller and/or newer players.  Even if you have been playing for a long time, there are still items that you may need in the Bonus Catchup Extravaganza so take the time to browse the selections before you pass it by.

Let’s focus first on the Weekly Black Market as it seems to have generated the most excitement.  The reason for the excitement can be summed up in two words – NEWEST RELEASES!!!!!  In the Weekly Black Market, you will find everything from Maximus Boost Creation Components, Maximum Building Blueprints, Rebirth Dragon Level Up Crystals, Lycan Gear Chests, Hero I Medals for Level 300+, the newest research tomes, and T1 through T3 Resources.  In other words, you can now purchase all of the latest and greatest items by simply completing Hourly Events!  Most of us are on the game throughout the day anyway and this format now allows us to obtain items our accounts really need without constantly buying packs.

The Bonus Catchup Extravaganza, as its name suggests, contains items that will allow players to catch up on items they may have missed in the past.  For example, you can purchase boost components for the boost hall from Absolute Boost Creation Components down to Defense Boost Creation Components.  This market also contains items needed to level up your monsters, your Master Garrison up to Level 100, and pre-Rebirth dragons.  Additionally, if you have been struggling to obtain materials for older gear, to level up your Hero, or complete older researches, this is where you will find what you need.

While the new Black Market contains something for everyone, it is not without its issues.  If you have taken even a cursory look at the offerings, you quickly realized that the amounts that you can purchase are somewhat limited.  Take Loyalty for example.  In the past, there were no limits as to how much you could obtain from events if you wanted to spend all of your free time accumulating Loyalty.  At present, you can accumulate a maximum of 4,000,000 Loyalty per week, assuming you have the tokens necessary, 2 Million of each kind, to do so.  Obviously, this would not leave you anything for the fun stuff that you probably want to purchase for your account.  Thus, you should probably budget the amount of Loyalty you will truly need for shields, remembering that an 8-hour shield costs 50,000 Loyalty and a 24-hour shield costs 200,000 Loyalty, and only buy the number of shields you truly need.

While the change MZ implemented is not perfect, it is an example of the developer listening to its players and doing what it can to address the concerns raised by the players.  This is a big change from the MZ that we were used to.  My hope is that we will continue to see responsiveness like this from MZ so that the game we love can continue to thrive!
