The Big Three

The three main stats are Attack, Defense, and Health. These are the foundation for which all other stats are created. Attack is the easiest to understand. Simply put, attack is dealing damage to the enemy. When you are attacking another player in GoW you are hoping that you will kill as many, if not all, of the opponent’s army.

Defense versus Health

A lot of players get defense and health confused, and rightfully so. These two stats are so closely related and intertwined, it’s impossible to choose between the two, nor would you want to! So, what is the difference between health and defense?

  • Defense – The power you have to withstand hits
  • Health – The ability to function while being damaged

Ok, so what does that actually mean?

The best way I know how to explain it is this: Think of a line with points numbered 1 through 10 along the way. As you start at one and go up, the numbers get further and further apart, so that numbers 1 and 2 have the shortest distance between them, and numbers 9 and 10 have the greatest distance between them. The numbers on the timeline are your defense and the distance between each number is your health. If your defense is 10, and you start getting attacked, the health is how long you can stay and 10 before you are pushed back to number 9. Consequently, as your defense drops from 10 to 9 to 8 and so on, your health will also become weaker and not be able to withstand as many hits. Therefore your health reduces faster as your defense gets smaller.

Defense vs Health

Example

Think of zeroing an account. The first half is always the longest part of zeroing someone because their troop count is higher and is multiplied by the defense, the troops are healthy and strong. As the TC drops, then the hits become bigger and bigger because the health can not keep you at each number for as long. The diminishing troop count is making the defense weaker and thus affecting the health. Shout outs to all the old school health traps!!.
