Last week in our How to Build your Stats in the Dragon War Dimension Series we began to take a closer look at Traps and Fillers. We got the chance to cover Attack for traps and to begin our discussion on defense. This week we are going to continue our discussion defense and discuss health.
However, if you have not yet had the opportunity to look at the first two articles in this series make sure you catch up and build the foundation to continue this series with Teamrealtips.

How to Build Your Stats in the Dragon War Dimension Part 2 The Trap and Filler
A Quick Recap
In the Dragon War Dimension, there are three stats and different forms of those that are very important to traps. Those are Attack, Health, and Defense. Last week we took a closer look at Attack. You know you need to add attack to your setup when you are struggling to kill off your Attackers march.
We also looked at the various places you are able to find attack within the game and we began to take a look at Defense as well and when you need to add more Defense into your setup. This week we will continue by looking at the various places you can find Defense within the game and then continue on for a closer look at Health.
However, just for reference, we will include our Stat dictionary here again.
wdt_ID | Terminology | Definition | What does it do? |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Troop Attack | Increases the Attack of your Troops | This stat functions in a couple of different ways. As a Lead player, it allows you the ability to kill off more of your targets troops. As a defending player, it allows you to kill off more of your incoming attacker's march. |
2 | Troop Defense | Increases the Defense of your Troops. | While Attack allows the opportunity to kill off more troops from the opposing player, defense, helps to decrease your losses. |
3 | Troop Health / Troop HP | Increases the HP of all Troops | Health is Wheaties for your troops. If you look at the icon in the game it shows an arm with a muscle. Health strengthens your troops so they can endure in the battle. |
4 | Hero Attack | Increase's your Hero's Attack against a Monster. | Note!! Hero attack is for monsters not against troops or other players. |
5 | Infantry Attack Cavalry Attack Ranged Attack Seige Attack |
Increases the Attack of your Infantry Troops Increases the Attack of your Cavalry Troops Increases the Attack of your Ranged Troops Increases the Attack of your Seige Troops |
This is a type stat and dependent on the one you choose will only increase the attack of your Troops of that Type. |
6 | Type Armor | Increases the Armor of your Infantry, Ranged, and Cavalry Troops. | Armor is a Defense stat. This stat works for Infantry, Cavalry, and Ranged troops. |
7 | Type Attack | Increases the Attack of your Infantry, Ranged, and Cavalry Troops | Another Type stat that increases the Attack for your three troop types, Infantry, Cavalry, and Ranged. |
8 | Empire Assault Armor | Provides an Armor Bonus for all Troop Types when attacking an enemy Empire. | This stat is only useful when attacking other Strongholds. While Armor is a defensive stat this specific type protects the troops of the attacker when they are hitting other players Strongholds. |
9 | Empire Assault HP | Provides an HP Bonus for all Troop Types when attacking an enemy Empire. | This stat is for attacking other Strongholds only! This provides Health for the attacker's troops. |
10 | Empire Assault Attack | Provides an Attack Bonus for all Troop Types when attacking an enemy Empire. | This is once again for Attacking other Strongholds only. This provides attack stats for Attackers. |
Where do I find Defense Stats?
We are going to look in very similar places as we did for Attack when we are looking for Defense stats. This section will be more abbreviated then the Attack section was, therefore, make sure you go back to that section to find more details regarding the different areas.
Research
- Draconic Combat Research
- Empire Defender Defense- 600%
- Seekers Rewards
- Empire Defender Defense- 150%
- Dragon War Dimension Rewards
- Infantry Defense- 10%
- Cavalry Defense- 10%
- Ranged Defense- 10%
- Combat Research
- Infantry Defense- 264%
- Cavalry Defense- 264%
- Ranged Defense- 264%
- Siege Defense- 264%
- Wall Traps Research
- Empire Defender Defense- 233%
- Empire Defender Defense II- 355%
- Crafting Research
Gear and Set Bonuses
There is only one gear set in the Dragon War Dimension that currently helps with Defense and offers a Set bonus with Defense Stats. The Sentinel Gear Set provides Defense and if you unlock the Level 6 Set Bonus that gives an additional 250% Defense.
Hero
Hero 1- Provides Type Armor, however, this does not open until level 80.
Hero 2- None
Hero 3- Offers Troop Defense Bonus (Max 650%) and Empire Defender Defense (Max 650%)
Boost Hall
Provides up to 120% Troop Defense. This is a lower amount then is offered by Sentinel Gear and the Set Bonus for Sentinel Gear. If you are deciding between Gear or Boost Hall for Defense stats currently Gear offers more.
VIP, Gems, Banners, Altar, and Boosts
All of these are other great places to find ways to increase your defense. VIP at max level provides 1,250% Defense. However, recall that as a trap too high of a VIP can keep other players from hitting you. While some of the Defense Boosts from Banners, Altar, Boosts, and Gems may seem small ultimately they do add up to give you that extra edge.
Health
Health is a concept that many players struggle with. For a long time, Health was discounted due to the massive debuffs, however, in the Dragon War Dimension health is currently not debuffed. This stat is very important for traps and one I actually prioritize over Defense in my own build. Essentially Health is going to help take your troops from spaghetti armed weaklings to the muscled Hercules. It makes your troops stronger and able to be more efficient.
Health Vs. Defense
For this, we hit an account that was gemmed for Defense and Health first to see what a hit with the two stats combined looked like.
Next we removed the Health Gems and maintained the Defense Gems to see what that would look like.
Finally, we removed the Defense Gems and added back in the Health Gems (all of these gems were level 6).
You can see by the reports above that Health was by far more effective in helping with the troops lost. While Defense did help the Health gave the troops the extra edge they needed.
Where can I find Health Stats?
Finding Health Stats is very similar to finding the other stats and we will cover those different places here again.
Research
- Draconic Combat Research
- Troop Health with Hero- 300%
- Empire Defender Health- 600%
- Seeker’s Rewards
- Empire Defender Health- 150%
- Troop HP with Hero- 150%
- Dragon War Dimension Rewards
- Ranged Health- 15%
- Infantry Health- 15%
- Cavalry Health- 15%
- Hero Research
- Troop HP- 65%
- Combat Research
- Troop Health I- 36%
- Troop Health II- 80%
- Wall Traps Research
- Empire Defender Health- 47%

Gear and Set Bonuses
There are a few set bonuses we need to be on the lookout for when it comes to Health. We will cover these below.
- Beastmaster’s Gear Set- Provides a set bonus of 32% Troop Health Bonus
- Vindicator’s Gear Set- This set provides not only Health stats but an amazing Set Bonus. At level 6 this gives a set bonus of 300%
- Dragon War Monster Slayer Set- Gives a Set Bonus of 100% Troop Health Bonus.
Hero
- Hero 1- Gives Troop HP
- Hero 2- None
- Hero 3- Empire Defender HP (Max 350%)
Boost Hall
Much like Defense you are able to get more Health from set bonuses on gear. However, you can get a nice boost of up to 120% Troop Health from the Boost Hall currently.
VIP, Gems, Banners, Altar, and Boosts
All of these are other great places to find ways to increase your Health. VIP at max level provides 1,250% Health. However, recall (again) that as a trap too high of a VIP can keep other players from hitting you. While some of the Health Boosts from Banners, Altar, Boosts, and Gems may seem small ultimately they do add up to give you that extra edge.
Attack Debuff
This is another good stat to consider as a trap. However, I recommend building your own stats before you start looking at this and debuffing the stats of your Attacker. You are able to find Attack Debuff in Hero 3 and Draconic Combat Research.
A Word on Traps
You will notice that we did not cover trap stats. Many traps are currently not using traps because they have chosen to focus building stats for their troops and the traps have not been hugely effective for most players. However, new research does increase trap capacity at a max of 100k. This could change how players are setting up and using traps. If you do decide to use traps in your set up be sure to take a look at the different places we have discussed in order to increase the stats on your traps and help them be effective for you.
Prioritizing
Prioritizing how you obtain these stats is another thing that is important.
Remember***
- Attack- Helps you kill off your attacker’s march
- Defense- Helps you protect your own troops
- Health- Helps Strengthen your troops
If you are getting started here is my recommendation. Focus in on Attack first, if you are unable to kill off your attacker’s march then you will not be able to cap. Many traps will use arbiter’s gear for defense or a mix with arbiter’s gear to give them the extra edge when it comes to attacking stats.
If killing off your attacker’s march is not the problem then the focus needs to be changed to health and defense. Defense is currently debuffed in the game however, Health is not. This plus the tests above showing how much more Health helped than Defense are the reason that I am currently recommending prioritizing Health over Defense.
However, remain aware that the game is constantly changing with new releases and stronger stats. So be sure that when you are deciding on your setup that you test, test, and then test some more.
Hidden Stats Versus Visible Stats
You will often hear us referencing Hidden Stats. Hidden stats are the things that people can not easily see. This includes things like the Boost Hall, Set Bonuses, Research, and Gems. Visible stats include things such as VIP, Gear that is equipped, and Hero and Hero Level.
As a trap, you always want to strengthen your account using Hidden Stats first. While to some degree Research is not hidden due to power gained people are unable to see how much of your power is coming from Research making this a great place to get stats.
Your opponents can not see what set bonuses you have (unless you are wearing a full set of gear) or what you have unlocked in boost hall. However, they can see what Banners you have equipped, your VIP, and your Hero. These are the areas you want to be cautious about increasing to avoid detracting hits.
Empire Quests
Just a friendly reminder for my trapping friends! Do NOT collect Empire Quests as these cause a huge increase in power that can be very detrimental.
